Lousy!!,
By Taylor Roberts "RomanceBookLover" (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sex On Flamingo Beach (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The novel is about a resort manager's (Emillie Woodward)ability to increase occupancy at the resort, with a friendship which the author tries to pass for romance thrown in. The entire novel is centered on Emillie's efforts to increase occupancy. Her relationship (and I use that term loosely) with her "love interest" Rowan James is very very dull and you are left wondering why this novel is categorized as a romance novel. I believe Emillie and Rowan were intimate once (I could be wrong, but that just tells you that their intimate moments were not memorable). There is no passion, no romance, no love. It is among the dullest book I have read in quite a while. The title is very misleading as there was no sex on Flamingo Beach! This book is not worth the time spent reading it and unfortunately the rating does not allow zero star!

This was an unusual romance: an interracial relationship between a light-skinned black woman and a white man. I usually get irritated in IRs when the heroine creates a lot of drama about not dating a black man. In this case, her concerns about pursuing the relationship felt much more valid and real. For example, sometimes strangers didn't realize they were an interracial couple--erasing her ethnic identity entirely. I can understand other readers' concerns about the book not being "romantic" enough, because the focus was split between the romantic relationship and other stuff going on in the heroine's life. Personally, I liked that and found it realistic. We don't actually spend all of our time focused on our love lives.
However, this was the first book by this author I've read, and I'm not sure it stood alone well without reading the rest of the series. I liked the secondary characters, but their introductions often seemed perfunctory, as though you should already know them from previous books in the series. But my big problem with the book was the terrible sex scenes. They were plentiful and started early (too early, I thought) in the story but were very short and lacked a) foreplay b) emotional intimacy and c) sexual tension. The writing overall was better than many of the other interracial romances I've read but this author needs help with her erotic writing.

Sex on Flamingo Bay,

The fall season is over, but you do not have to succumb to winter's wrath. You can relax vicariously, with Emilie Woodward, on Flamingo Beach, a small Florida community.
Emilie, the director of leisure sales, is responsible for filling the 500 rooms at the Flamingo Beach Spa and Resort. Currently the occupancy is about 40 percent and the senior vice-president of sales and marketing is on her case. But filling the resort is only one of Emilie's problems; she is being pursued by a man who she sees as a passing dalliance. Flamingo Beach is predominantly an African American community and her suitor, a prominent land developer, Rowan James, is white. Emilie promised her dad she would not venture outside of her race, plus Rowan is a nomad and she wants permanence. Rowan has not shared his past with Emilie; he was born and raised in a tough mixed neighborhood in Brooklyn, was married to an African American woman, and can hold his own. Emilie is not a passing fancy, but she is tougher than most of the women who captured his attention. Rowan sets his plan in motion; he must woo Emilie at a strategically reduced pace. An added distraction, is the advent of a new hotel/casino which will be stiff competion for Emilie's hotel, a lucrative job opportunity for Rowan, and will certainly change the demographics of Flamingo Beach. When Flamingo Beach Spa and Resort is purchased by the incoming company Emilie suspects Rowan of having had a hand in it. SEX ON FLAMINGO BEACH is the fourth book in the Flamingo Beach series and it candidly addresses change and taking chances. Ms. Gamble knows that life changes and relationships change too; she encourages people to take a risk on love, just jump in with both feet. This was fun, sexy and adult, a refreshing read. There is no sex on Flamingo beach,
By Denny "Den" (London,UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sex on Flamingo Beach (Kimani Romance) (Kindle Edition)
This book has nothing to do with sex or even romance and everything to do with The Flamingo beach resort. A rare treat and opportunity to read an IR romance in the Kimani Press and this writer ruined it. This is not a romance book at all and ends what could have been a good series that just got weaker and weaker and became a boring soap opera. I think the writer got tired with the series and it shows. Do not waste your money!

This was a fun read. The characters dialogue was serious yet witty. Loved the author's writing style. I enjoyed the main characters love story as well as the secondary characters that were introduced.

The title is a little in your face, but the sensuality for which King-Gamble is known for was definitely there. The author delivered another finely crafted book and a fun read. I've been following this series and I hate to see it end. What I particularly like about Sex on Flamingo Beach is the interplay between hero and heroine and King-Gamble's intelligent handling of the interracial relationship. The story was humorous, fun and very current. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered several other books by this author.

Not What You Expect,
This review is from: Sex On Flamingo Beach (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The title of this book has nothing to do with the story. The story was about the development of a casino and the growth of a resort and spa. It just so happens she throws in two characters (Emilie and Rowan). Their is nothing romantic, no chemistry between the characters and the love scenes were thrown together. One minute Emilie is pushing him away the next they have sex. There were not enough scenes between the couples and the scenes they were in Emilie was pushing him away and being a real pain in the butt. This is not a love story. This is my first and most likely the last book I read from this author.
