Book Description

October 23, 2006
Inside she knew he was cheating but couldn’t accept the idea. Not JoJo, she had a perfect and wonderful husband and two great kids. No, it wasn’t supposed to be this way, but is, and she’s left with two little kids and a backpack of bad promises. She flees in the night and spends the early dawn breathing cold sea air on the Tybee Island of her youth. As reality soaks through, along with cold salt air and sea, she realizes she’s left her kids with a too-young babysitter and left the car lights on—both all night. Her best friend, Charon, sells real estate and tries to interest JoJo in the business. Still cheating, Eddie derides her every move. Charon sees his manipulations as totally obvious but can’t reach her friend. JoJo makes her share of common mistakes, but benefits greatly from the tutoring of her good friend and succeeds on pure guts and determination. Eddie’s behavior in and out of the business take a terrible toll, but it is Charon who commits the unthinkable. Follow with JoJo through the twists and turns of a new real estate career, a cheating husband, and tactics of his strange cohorts until she learns and earns her way to a new life.

More About the Author

Carrol Wolverton is the author of three non-fiction works and three novels. Raylaina, the story of a teen with an abusive boyfriend is the most recent novel and a YA book. It tells a good story with a powerful message. The most recent non-fiction book is Method Weight Management, a common sense approach to weight loss. Based on simple and permanent changes, one can deal with a long-term weight problem and correct it forever. This is her journey. Living Cheap & Loving It, tomatoes in the flower bed tells of her long-term frugality born of learning and necessity. There is no security like money in the bank when you need it. Living Cheap is also living green in many ways. Back Bay Boston Basement is a dirty family secret mystery set in the West Newton end of Boston and is full of Boston's wonderful history. Sex, Lies & Real Estate tells the tale of the abandoned woman who makes her way through the tangles of the real estate profession to eventual success. Her first book, Serious Survival: Skills for Single Parents is a self-help and group guide for single parents. For more information see www.northfloridawriters.org/CarrolW.htm

4.0 out of 5 stars Real Estate as it Really Is, March 2, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sex, Lies and Real Estate: a novel of the real estate industry (Paperback)
If you have every thought of becoming a real estate salesperson and making some big, quick money, read this book. It's the fast-moving story of a homemaker with rusty job skills who suddenly finds her husband gone and has two preschoolers to support. Like many, she becomes a Realtor because it is the last profession that requires weeks instead of years of additional education. What they don't teach you in real estate school is how to make money and survive in a very competitive field. Jojo learns the hard way, but has the advantage of a very caring mentor who shows her the ropes...until the mentor commits the ultimate sacrilege and almost destroys the friendship. You'll ache with Jojo as she struggles to balance career and family while maintaining her own sanity. This is the lot of all working mothers, but in real estate it is perhaps more intense than elsewhere. You are beholden to your clients 24/7, and they have no respect for your need to care for your children and relax now and then. Carrol Wolverton has dished up a very realistic inside look at one of the world's most interesting professions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, Bad and the Lonely, February 16, 2007
This review is from: Sex, Lies and Real Estate: a novel of the real estate industry (Paperback)
Author Wolverton has written not only a good story, but also a guide for the newly-divorced, the real estate hopefuls, and the spouse intending to stray. Wolverton offers help for those who face a broken family, those who want a career and those who contemplate destroying the lives of their family. It's a great source for realtors across the country and for people suffering divorces.

This review is from: Sex, Lies and Real Estate: a novel of the real estate industry (Paperback)
In this novel, the story of lives and inner workings in the Florida real estate venue is an immensely enjoyable work. The story is captivating. I found it hard to put down, engrossing and fast-paced.

This is the second novel I have read from Carrol Wolverton, and look forward to her next publication.

I highly recommend this book for all who enjoy a good novel.
