Taking on Freud, Plato, and Schopenhauer,
By
This review is from: Sex: A Philosophical Primer (Paperback)
I read Singer's Pursuit of Love along with the Expanded Edition of Sex A Philosophical Primer. The former had many analyses of philosophers' and psychologists' arguments. The author deconstructed those views and formulated his own. The latter continues evaluating the logic of Freud, Plato, and Schopenhauer. It also frames the parameters of further inquiry. Themes include passion and compassion, Christian and Western concepts of love, same-sex and opposite-sex marriage, and sexual goodness.
