4.0 out of 5 stars Easy reading, informative and balanced information.
Dr. Colker's review of sexual performance enahncers, both pharmaceutical and over the counter is a very informative book. I have enjoyed the pleasure of using this information for bettering the sex life of many people. For the price, you may not get a better bang for your buck!

1.0 out of 5 stars Tiresome focus on ineffective supplements & biased approach
This is a drab book that gives tiresome discussions of one thing after another that isn't helpful while ignoring many things that are useful. This is a drab book that gives tiresome discussions of one thing after another that isn't helpful while ignoring many things that are useful. While there is some merit in discussing ineffective sexual adjuncts, I believe that readers would prefer to read about things that DO work. This book is published by Advanced Research Press (ARP)... Perhaps not surprisingly the author touts what ARP is hawking; there is even an advertisement in the book. The professionalism of this book is further tarnished by the inclusion of too many corny pictures showing an over-muscled woman and man striking unnatural poses on the beach.

1.0 out of 5 stars DWELLS TOO MUCH ON WHAT DOESNT WORK-IN A REDUDANT MANNER, October 26, 1999

This review is from: Sex Pills A-Z: What Works & What Doesn't (Paperback)
This book contains a lot of information on "What doesnt work , with the same statments over and over again ( not enough research, havent seen research, lack of research etc.) about what doesnt work including every kitchen spice. The data and coverage of what does work is very little compared to what doesnt work, so what is the point of a book like this, I can go to the grocery store and write down a million items that we all know have little effect on sex because of "lack of research".

The book would be more effective describing the details and research results of what does work and simply having a one page list of the names of substances that have no proof or research on their effects. Nutmeg -no In a sex book do I care if its an alleged hallucegen. Saffron -no and every other herb form every culture. The text in the areas of what seems to be promising is sparse and the actual items are very few. When the analysis is about what works the writing is very good and starts to drill down but not far enough.

There is enough scientific backgound to justify the statments being made, but one wonders if this is just thrown in so the whole book doesnt come off as simply exploitation of a hot topic for the sake of a fast selling book.

Next time tell me more about what does work not about what doesnt work.

In music would you write a book called "How not to play the guitar"

This is only a little critical because the book could be good, the author has a great, brisk, humorous, and lucid writing style.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, concise information, well written and fun to read!, November 3, 1999

Carlon M. Colker, M.D. has done a good job in writing a fair book describing items that men and women have used over the years in order to pepper up their sex lives. I found the historical uses of various herbs and even Viagra (heart medicine) to be insightful. In my travels and world trekking, I plan to pick up some of the esoteric substances and give them a whirl.

In short, a power packed must read.

This was the most comprehensive alternative sex book that I have read. I felt that it gave me the most cutting edge scientific information in a way that I could understand what Dr. Colker was discussing.
