I am a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified school psychologist with many years of experience working with children with disabilities and their families. I have two grown children and two young grandchildren, one of whom lives close by and provides me with insights into current educational practices.
In July 2009, my colleague, Dr. Howard Margolis (a reading and learning disabilities specialist), and I published "Reading Disabilities: Beating the Odds" for parents, teachers, and others involved in educational decision making for children. In addition, we created a free blog to provide additional information and address important questions to increase the chances that parents can get their children the services they need to succeed in school and life. The blog Learning & Reading Disabilities can be found at: reading2008.com/blog
Remember, with knowledge comes power: parents can learn to become powerful advocates for their children!
