Recapture Your Heart's Truest Longings Deep in her heart, every woman longs for a man to see her beauty and cherish it. We long to be pursued and courted, and to make love to someone who truly loves us for keeps. Yet today, 'healthy and normal' implies giving ourselves sexually with no expectation of depth, intimacy, or commitment. We're expected to handle our relationships with men with no jealousy when they're threatened, no fear of their ending, and no grief when they do. The proof of our equality with men has become our ability to flatline a broken heart. Compassionate counselor Paula Rinehart understands the high price a woman pays in loosening her sexual boundaries, and the unique role sex plays in forging a bond meant to last a lifetime. She shows you how to break free from the bondage of misused sexuality and how to create a whole new start with men.

4.0 out of 5 stars The connection between soul and sexuality, January 26, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sex and the Soul of a Woman: The Reality of Love and Romance in an Age of Casual Sex (Paperback)
Paula Rinehart is a private counselor, and she uses examples from her counseling practice to bring a personal touch to this exploration of the connection between sexuality and soul. I was pleasantly surprised that Paula managed to cover this topic without resorting to ultra-conservative stereotypes and comments. She explains what women lose in casual sex, and where the power of a woman really lies. One chapter offers guidelines on how to recognize a man who is worthy of a relationship, and another paints the man's perspective of learning about maturity and manliness. My favorite chapter, though, is titled "Getting Back Your Heart" and talks about how to heal from non-marital sexual encounters. Paula explains the concept of a "soul tie" in a practical terms and shows how to get freedom from that type of spiritual and emotional bondage. I would recommend this book to any single (or single-again) woman as a required reading to help them understand the value of waiting for Mr. First-Best; and to married women for the healing of any pre-marriage wounds.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book really hits at the heart of the problem!, May 21, 2006
This review is from: Sex and the Soul of a Woman: The Reality of Love and Romance in an Age of Casual Sex (Paperback)
After getting caught up in the world of casual sex and realizing how empty and lonely living that lifestyle was making me, I was looking for a book that didn't minimize the woman's desire for sex. I didn't blame my lifestyle on male influences. I had chosen it because it made me feel good, at least for the moment. But after realizing the more permanent effects, I wanted out. Paula Rinehart addresses the woman as a sexual being and teaches her the value and pleasure and deep joy that can come from guarding her sexuality. Many other books I read either focused on the Biblical laws or portrayed the woman as a victim of the man. I highly recommend this book!!! I hope it blesses you as much as it has blessed me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging yet comforting read, August 1, 2007
This review is from: Sex and the Soul of a Woman: The Reality of Love and Romance in an Age of Casual Sex (Paperback)
This was a fabulous book. The author takes a realistic, relatable stance on the effects of casual sex or casual intimacy on the heart, mind and soul of a woman, outside the safe parameters of marriage. Although she writes from the Christian prespective, the points and message of this book can be relatable to anyone, especially those broken by yet another failed relationship and who suffer a broken heart. It reads as if you are having a "heart to heart" with a friend with whom you feel completely safe and whose honesty comes from love, not condemnation. the best part: she offers solutions. You just have to be brave enough to take her input to heart and act on it.
