Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the wild and crazy world of Kool Keith's .... If you're easily offended by choruses that speak on pulling the draws off girls, or representing one's own testicles, then maybe Sex Style isn't in your best interest. If you're looking for an album overflowing with "naked" lyrics, crammed with absurdity, and a dash of emcee criticism, look no further.

From the selective skits, to the enigmatic yet genius wordplay of Kool Keith, back around to Kutmaster Kurt's masterminded production, one can't help but come to the conclusion Sex Style is one hell of an album. Keith takes the listener on an epidemic journey packed with STD's, unprotected sex, pornographic stage shows, groupie festivities, and everything amid in this "Plastic World." Kutmaster Kurt doesn't give as great a show as The Automator's flawless production on Kool Keith's Dr. Octagon, or his own sinister sounds found on Kool Keith's Dr. Dooom, but Sex Style's instrumental value is nothing less than inestimable. Tracks such as Make Up Your Mind and Keep It Real define some very notable highlights of Kurt's career.

Keith's flow is similar to the one that can be found on Ultra's Big Time album, mixed with a hint of lime. Keith's lyrics are witty, the wordplay, pure genius. Patent rhymes can be found throughout the entire album, that only Keith can bring. In all honestly, Kool Keith fan or not, you can't go wrong with Sex Style.

Now being a fan of Kool Keith's Dr. Octagonecologyst, you usually find it hard to put this on top of Octagonecologyst, but I just have to do it. It's real good. Awesome album. If you're a Kool Keith and you don't got this, you're missing out probably one of the biggest or the biggest itself, who knows. Kool Keith is still making albums and may just impress us over Sex Style. But, it's hard to see how he can do that if he reaaaaally rocked it and funked heads up...

KOOL KEITH DOES IT AGAIN! WACKY RHYMES THAT MAKE ABSTRACT SENSE DIPPED IN HOT FUDGY BEATS!NO RAPPER CAN COME CLOSE TO KOOL KEITH'S FIELD. DEFINITELY ONE FOR THE HEAD-BOBBERS!

The cat has been underated since he was a breakdancer in the early 80's. The beats are more raw than his Dr. Octagon releases. The lyrics are the illest "Make up your mind, who you want to pump the butt?" A must-have for any fan of The Ultramagnetic MC's or Kool Keith.

For reference, I am a 30 year old white girl :-) This record would be a great place to start, as an introduction to Kool Keith. I have listened to just about all of his work and think this record is a great example of his style as an artist. Kool Keith is continually pushing the boundaries and always comes up with something that is unique - this record is a great example, I challenge you to find another one like it! On "Sex Style" Keith presents some "pornocore" that is just awesomely ridiculous. He is a true original. All of his personas are interesting but I find this incarnation the most visionary, and true to himself. No wonder he ended up collaborating with other geniuses like Mike Patton (Peeping Tom) and Dan the Automator... he's making music that is real. That's the simplest way to describe it. As far as the songs, they are all catchy and the lyrics are really awesome. The best ones are "Sex Style," "Make up Your Mind," "Sly we Fly," and "Get off my Elevator." But the crowning moment of genius is "Keep it Real.. Represent." There are some lyrics here that are sexual and if that would offend you, then stay away. But if you want to hear some rap that is totally different than anything else out there, you must check this out, it's an underground classic. "alt-rap" if you will... he doesn't always rhyme but his flow belongs only to him. Throw all your ideas about what rap music 'should be' or 'used to be' or whatever, and with an open mind, realize that kool keith doesn't fit any mold, or follow any conventions, and the results are sublime! "Sex Style" remains one of my top favorite records of all time and for anyone looking for something different, just take a chance and give this one a spin., I don't see how you could be disappointed.

This is an incredible piece of work. I remember when it came out in 97 I was in Tower Records with my mom, and I didn't want her to see me buying it, so I picked out two other CDs I didn't even want that much and sandwiched Sex Style between them. I threw the other CDs since then, and I have bought this album like three times (why do you always lose the good ones?) This is easily one of Keith's best, up their with Doc Oc, Doc Dooom, Critical Beatdown, and MAsters of Illusion. An out and out classic. If you are a weird person who likes hip hop, buy this today.

Kool Keith has made countless albums. This would have to be in his top 10. A lot of work and time was put into this lp. First time I listened to it, I didnt exactly feel it like I did his other lps. But after you listen to it a couple of times you start to see the genius Keith really is. The only Keith albums I like more are Dr Octagon and Dr Dooom. Plastic World and Get off my Elevator are creative and original tracks. This album displays Keith's nasty side. One of the dozens he has. No other emcee or any other music artist of any music for that matter can make music more original that Keith can.

I have been listening to hip hop ever scenes HIP HOP started and what goes unnoticed is that this dude was down with KRS1 and Scott La Rock long before Criminal Minded was released. He gets no props in the East Sides of any hoods USA, but the skaters and snowboarders come in flocks to see him perform. And who the hell is the other character rappin on "Sly We Fly"? he sounds like a Kool Keith alter ego, but sounds like no Keith I have heard. The beats are bangin and again, the producer goes unnoticed. It seems that all the good stuff is hard to get a hold of. If anyone can hook a brother up, let me know. I want a copy of this Masters of Illusions song they have been playing on the Worlds Famous (Sellout) Wake Up Show. Only problem is, that's all that's out there to listen to for the latest ishnit. keith has an imagination and raunchiness that are phatasmagorical. and he's got beats and dj's that are unbelievable.

no doubt about it. mister q-tip, mister delasoul, mister anybodyrapper.com, they all don't hold a candle to keith.

only doug e fresh and slick rick were at this level, but they were at their peak for so short a time.

Kool Keith is one of the greatest MC's ever, there's no doubt about it, and this album proves it. Sex Style is one of the greatest, if u haven't heard it already - get it. Also get Dr Octagon and Dr Dooom. 3 Essential Kool Keith albums. Anyway, Kool Keith is right on target on this album. The title says it all - Sex Style. The whole album contains sex lyrics, but he's an awesome lyricist, and these 'sex rhymes' only prove that. And the beats are some of the best you'll hear. If you've slept on this album for the last 7 years, don't continue. Go to your local record store and pick this up. Or, if u can't find it, pick it up off the net (u are boudn to find it somewhere). Best tracks are Sex Style, Sly We Fly, Plastic World, Dont Crush It, Little Girls, and Keep It Real. Bottom line is Kool Keith is better than any mainstream radio crap we hear, and his lyrics are some of the best you can ever hear, so if whatever crazy reason u dont have this already, cop this if u ever get the chance to.
