Written by the founders of the store Toys in Babeland this book is truly an uninhibited guide to erotic toys. Written in modern day language this book is a great reference guide, especially if you happen to be too shy to walk into your local sexual aid store. If you don't live in a very big town you probably will not find a store with an informed staff that can show you what's available and help you pick out a toy to meet your needs so this book is a perfect guide.

I must confess, in the past I've never been interested in toys so this book was quite refreshing to read. It gives you a great introduction to the toys available on the market. There are ten chapters that cover sexual anatomy (briefly), sexual expression & communication, vibrators, dildos & strap-ons, toys for men, lubricant (a whole chapter, WOW), bondage & domination, SM, and safety. Each chapter gives you, in detail everything you need to know about the highlighted toy pictured from what it's made of, to how to care for the toy. They even tell you the history of such toys and how to use each one featured in the book.

This book is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye with its colorful still life photographs of sexual toys but its overall design, texture, and feel. It's just heavy enough to warrant the price I paid for it, every page is glossy & smooth, and the writing is forward & fun. Where else will you see a section titled, `Dildos are for everyone'.

Oh, before I forget, my favorite thing in the whole book was the "Wondrous Vulva Puppet" by House O'Chicks. It so intrigued me and it was beautiful.

It's a great book full of fun stuff but with all that great info no where did I see how to use those `ben wa' balls I got for Christmas, but don't let that stop you from reading this book. It's great.

I have been a customer of Toys in Babeland for many years and I was so thrilled to hear the owners had written a book. I was even happier to get a copy of Sex Toys 101 and see all of their knowledge put to print - all the amazing tips and techniques that they have been teaching women (myself included!) in their stores for years are packing in there. It's a beautiful book, full of colorful images, and packed full of quality information. I have read every sex guide I could get my hands on and I have to say, this is the best sex toy guide ever.

I bought this book for my sister-in-law as a gift for her personal bridal shower. She LOVED it!!

I paged through the book a little before giving it to her and I thought it was great as well. Full of fun trivia, great information and tips, and bright and colorful photography. The layout is really nice - modern and eye-catching!

As for the content, I learned things just from the little that I read as I was skimming through it!

I would HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who wants to learn about the different sex toys out there (Who knew there were SOOO many?!) - expecially women, since this book really does strive to make women feel comfortable and welcome in the world of pleasure enhancers that has previously been somewhat intimidating to the fairer sex.

Thanks to the authors, artists, and editors that made this book so fun - both to read and to look at! :)

On one hand this is a product manual hyping what "Toys in Babeland" sells but it is also a great example of sexual information made fun and readily available. The photographs are excellent and well laid out so the book is pleasing visually. The information is well-written and well-researched with opinions back by experience and facts. Contrary to the store's name, there is not just toys and information for women. There are also nice little stories about how the store has affected people's lives, both customers and workers. I just wish the resource list was longer.

This is a one of a kind as far as toy guides are concerned! As a educator, I was pleasantly surprised by the authors knowledge of the various types of these toys, as well as some of the myths that tend to accompany them, both good and bad. Full color photographs on every page do a great job of making the these toys look practical (yet juicy!) guidelines for using, as well as caring for, these toys abounds! This book is definitely for women and men of all orientations and backgrounds.

I left this book out on the coffee table and watched friends, and in-laws leaf through the pages. It is beautiful, informative and easy to read -- And it is so cheap. I learned more about sexual anatomy, safer sex, and the fun of sex in one sitting than you'd get in a college course. This is a great book --- Buy It

Are you shy? Don't get this. But if you want to know about all the toys out there get it. It is not rude or crude. Well done and a good amount of info. Opens ones mind to some ideas.

I work at a sex toy store, and this book is pretty much our employee manual. It's a great basic intro to all things adult toys!

It did seem a little bit "Shop at Babes in Toyland"..but understandably so. I'm a big fan of what they've done for the industry. The pictures are great, even artistic! For this price, you can't go wrong. Even a "sexpert" can learn something here.

I did disagree with some of their picks, so make sure you get out there and shop around, have fun with it. Don't treat this like the all knowing book of sex toys, so many new and fun things have come out just since the book was written. You have to find what's right for YOU, and this book gives you a great set of tools to get started on the very happy hunt!

I loved this book. It is truly a wonderful guide for a beginner. It covers the basic materials in conventional toys (i.e. dildos and vibrators), along with plenty of information on safe sex and how to keep your toys clean. There are many pictures of the products they cover, but Babes in Toyland's book does not read like an advertisement. This book also includes introductory sections on anal sex, woman-on-top 'bend over boyfriend' play, and S&M. Although it does not go deep into alternate lifestyles, it gives some basic information, which is very handy.

This book is full of beautiful photos of sex toys, something I never thought I'd say in the same sentence! It has great info on navigating the world of sex toys, and the pros and cons of different categories, materials, etc. It's an eye opener that helps you steer clear of overpriced or dangerous toys and look for the ones that would best fit your needs. Definitely recommend!
