Book Description

One million people are trafficked into the sex industry each year.  In this timely and provocative study, Kathryn Farr documents the macro and micro impact of trafficking women and children into this industry on a global scale.  Farr looks not only at the victims themselves, but also at the sex trade's main players, organized crime structure, economic conditions, and role in which various militaries perpetuate its demand. Sex Trafficking can be incorporated into a variety of courses in sociology, social problems, culture and sexuality, history, and women's studies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Important read, reveals lots of facts, January 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sex Trafficking: The Global Market in Women and Children (Contemporary Social Issues) (Paperback)
Book gives a detailed presentation of human traficking, and the different parties involved; victims, consumers, pimps and so on.

Also writes about (forced) prostitution in armed conflicts, and how militaries and politicians handle this.

Detailed with sources "attached" to each bit of fact, so I could find the sources easily if I wanted to read more about this particular information.

Strongly recommended!

This book is a great book on human trafficking. It is one that plays with your emotions. Instead it provides hard evidence about human trafficking and how huge of an issue it really is. Would be a great book to use as a text book.
