Book Description

March 31, 2007
There is no other book like "Sex and Your Heart Health" on the market. It was written by an experienced cardiologist and his physician-wife to provide practical, easy-to-read information on sex and heart health. The study of the heart and heart disease is one of the most complex areas of medicine and one of the most difficult to master. "Sex and Your Heart Health" describes how heart disease impacts sex and marriage. The authors have distilled and condensed a massive amount of information in their book and present it in a conversational but frank manner. Besides providing realistic information on heart disease and sex, they offer practical strategies for living a heart-healthy life. This is based on their combined fifty-plus years as practicing physicians. "Sex and Your Heart Health" demystifies cardiology. This book will be of great interest to people with any form of heart disease, including those with heart attacks, bypass surgery, pacemakers, ICDs, etc. It will also be useful to nurses, physician assistants, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals caring for people with heart disease.

Editorial Reviews

Review

From the dedication through the final chapter, "Sex and Your Heart Health" is one of the finest books on the subject that I've had the pleasure to read. The content is clear and professional, the approach is humorous (I love the term "Pronking", too), and the material is helpful and humanely presented. What a joy that, at last, there is a book that is helpful without being dull or difficult to understand. Thank you for sharing this masterwork with me! Every heart patient and his or her spouse/significant/insignificant other should read this! --M.C.

This book is just wonderful. It is down-to-earth and practical. It is a much-needed book. I would definitely recommend it to my patients. It would be very helpful and great for nurses and nursing students as well. I recommend it highly! --M.H.M., Registered Nurse

"Sex and Your Heart Health" is very easy to read and interesting. The authors have taken a complicated topic for the nonmedical person and made it very informative and even enjoyable. Their book will be very helpful to many, including mental health professionals. --J.L.B., PsyD, LMFT

This review is from: Sex and Your Heart Health: A Cardiologist Tells All (Perfect Paperback)
Finally a book on heart health that can be understood by the consumer. Fun to read, easy to understand, excellent explanations of medical terminology and diagnostic procedures used to obtain accurate diagnosis. Concise information on prescription medications and their effects. Easy-to-read tables describe symptoms, names of drugs commonly prescribed, and procedures used to correct cardiac problems. Includes information for women with heart disease as well as a chapter on pregnancy and heart health. Takes the mystery out of what to expect when you must visit the cardiologist. Everyone should have a copy - I've bought four so far!
