4.0 out of 5 stars Is it Hot in Here? May 10, 2012
Format:Paperback
I got this book at my local comic book shop. If Sports Illustrated were to come out with a comic book swimsuit issue this would be it. It's silly, escapist fun. It's tough to say that Red Sonja is hot because, well, she's a comic book superhero. But, damn, she's hot. I don't agree with all the selections or the order inwhich they fall -- no way Vampirella isn't in the Top 10 -- but that too is part of the fun. I started reading comics when I was around 10. Betty and Veronica of Archie fame had something to do with my interest. I'm happy to report that after all these years they still look good.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun, Illustrated List September 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
You know those lists that always pop up, (especially on web sites that are trying to catch your eyes)? 100 books to read, 100 places to see, top places to retire to if you have prostate problems? This is like a really good version of one of those lists.

Whether you want to pay for the list is a question for you to decide. But, it is fun to wander through this book to see how many of the characters you know, whether they look like you remember, whether the drawing the author has chosen is a fair representation of the character, and so on. And if you are so inclined you can judge the author's judgments and relist these heroines in your own preferred order.

It's hard to tell from just the brief sample, but it does turn out that some of these drawings are pretty dated and old school. This is not a collection of just slick modern works, and some of the illustrations look like they were copied out of an old Sunday comics section of a newspaper.

But hey, it's a good idea and the selection is wide. The captions are mostly just snappy one-liners, and while they don't offer deep insight they are at least amiable.

I liked this and amused myself for an hour after downloading it as a kindleunlimited freebie. That works for me. (I was also favorably disposed toward the editor because Red Sonja was Number One, but that's just me.)

3.0 out of 5 stars Potential to be so much more than it was... October 15, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Based upon the title, I was looking forward to seeing the rankings of some of who I consider to be the sexiest women in comics compared to the author's. With lists like these and all the subjective arguments they inspire, I expected a bit more meat with my cheesecake. Sadly, there wasn't any. My expectation was that the author would lay out his criteria as to what standard he was judging the women in question. There wasn't. It's simply women in a numbered order and I'm unclear as to how he arrived to his conclusion. Furthermore, he starts out with each woman getting her own page and then switches over to putting more than one woman one page. Plus, there is no detailed description of what makes each woman sexy in her own right, he inserts a brief paragraph that doesn't tell us much of anything. Disappointing.

I do like it. But where is Angel from Angel and the Ape? That was the only person that I missed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure I would have picked the same February 1, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If you're a comic collector, then you may want to add this to your collection. I didn't agree with the 100 picked. I definitely would have made mention of some others. Book is okay. If you have the $10 bucks to spend, go for it.

I imagine we all started reading comic books when we were young children growing up. I recall the early days of Wonder Woman, Cat Woman, Lady Blackhawk, Sheena and many other ladies who were popular in the 1950s 60s, and 70s. This volume also has the more recent modern sexy women as well as the older comic book characters.

I was always amazed at how the artists made these sexy women come alive on the pages of those great old comic books. I guess this is one of the reasons I have always loved the beautiful art of BORIS, who makes sword swinging women look so fantastic and sexy. I am a little surprised at not seeing any of the most recent comic book fighting women who swing swords etc.

This volume is in full color and lists 100 of the sexy women of comic books. Some of these include the following: Red Sonja, Jean Grey, Phoenix, Emma Frost, Wonder Woman, Witch blade, Leetah, Starfire, Elektra, Storm, Vampirella, Valkyrie, Lady Blackhawk, Little Annie Fanny, Sheena, Lois Lane and numerous other sexy women.

In conclusion, if you love comic books you will enjoy this collection of 100 sexy women in comics.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was exactly what I expected October 5, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
You know what would be awesome? a 100 Hottest comic girls book with more art and information about the lovely ladies of cartoons including well known live-action portrayals of the characters, but I know a book like that would be more of an encyclopedia. So I was satisfied with the comic buyers guide version. I am comfortable with most of the ratings and ranks on the list and I can see that they actually really tried to be as diverse and unbiased as possible so It's a five star thumbs up for me. It is definitely a fun edition to your comics & collectible books/ magazines shelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars 100 Sexist Women In Comiics
A cool comic book full of great female characters, in comic history. A singularly visual comic book of each character. If your in to comic books and history it is a cool addition.
