I would have to warn all who read this infamous book to be very careful what you're getting into.I tried the magick contained in it and it works,in fact since I was a virgin and got desperate,I put the rituals to the test with disastrous results.Even though I effectively lost my cherry there was a horrible price to pay,I wound up homeless and everyone I knew turned...

5.0 out of 5 stars An astonishing secret revealed, September 12, 2000
This review is from: Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits (Paperback)
Someone once told me that even if all the secrets and books in the world were destroyed, folks would find some way of rediscovering them. Among some of these secret hidden documents is one that has not been seriously pursued before because of its potent and jealously guarded occult mystery-how to use the forces liberated by the union with spiritual beings for self-transformation. Tyson is going beyond Tantra here, but he discusses both Tantra and the Tao as background for the second part of the book, which gives the practical exercises.

Donald Tyson writes broadly on the arcane arts, including "New Millennium Magic," "Three Books of Occult Philosophy," "Ritual Magic," and "Tetragrammaton." In this latest book, "Sexual Alchemy," he writes about a system of rituals magic that allows you to discover a sexual spiritual union far surpassing the pleasures of physical sex. He considers how to achieve a satisfying sexual and loving union with a spirit who is an active agent of the Goddess, the creative mother of the universe; various techniques for creating a homunculus (an artificial human); rituals to encourage the movement of your kundalini energy; and some explicit magical sexual practices, including the use of the Oil, the White Powder, and the Red Powder.

Those of you who are familiar with the Golden Dawn rituals including the Middle Pillar exercise will find the practices easy, but don't worry if you haven't read them, for you will find Tyson's procedures extremely clear and straightforward. The ability to make sigils (signs that represent the spirit), to translate names, and to contact the spirits is laid out precisely.

Of particular interest was the chapter in choosing a lover by working with telesmatic images building up the body shape, facial features, and overt personality traits for a spirit based solely on its name, or its function in the world. This is not to bypass the recognized historical form and attributes of a deity or other well-known spiritual being, however, major gods and goddesses have some drawbacks as love partners since they have such a long history and have been known by thousands of people over so many centuries they have acquired a kind of inertia tending to make them unresponsive on a personal level. So, a secondary or telesmatic image is more often desirable. Tyson has also included a history of erotic unions between humans and gods, angels, demons, and spirits.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique book but has a lot of loose ends, July 29, 2003
This review is from: Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits (Paperback)
This is the first complete text I've seen on summoning spirits for personal contact. So in that sense, I applaude Tyson's work. However, it could be more complete. Firstly, as a neophyte, I'm not familiar with the characteristics of entities other than deities. The Goetia may be a useful reference but the spirits described may not be suitable for what Tyson has in mind. Tyson does speak of the "Children of Lilith", but who are they? He doesn't give names or a place where one can research them. Also, as imperfect as human sexual contact maybe, there are few people who would willingly give that up, even for the phenomenal spirit sexual experience Tyson describes. In which case, how does one break up with a spirit? Tyson, again, doesn't mention how to sever a spirit link, even though he says that spirits can be get very jealous of mortal lovers and make a nuisance of themselves when scorned. Then after all the wonderful things the author has to say about the loving experiences he had, at the end of the book, he describes the sensations as something akin to the "heebie-jeebies".

It was a great book and I'm tempted to make it a part of my library because there are not too many books on this subject, but I wouldn't summon anything based on this book alone. There are no safeguards listed on ensuring what arrives is what you called and there's no information on how to make a spirit leave once you've invited it into your life. Life's too complicated without being stalked by an entity that can appear wherever it likes.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Read For Experienced Alchemist, March 17, 2006
By
This review is from: Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits (Paperback)
With all the reviews I find it interesting that most totally missed the subject of the story. Apparently most were drawn to buying the book for the word SEX in the title...;)
This book is not about sex with a spirit because one can not find a human lover. It is about how to go about initiating a relationship with a specific spirit in order to gather bodily fluids to use in what some might refer to as magic. The fluids are gained during sexual contact with the said spirit. Instead of arguing about who gets to sleep in the wet spot. Tyson collects the wet spot, dries it out and uses it to enhance his abilities.
This aspect was very clear in the book and Tyson's instructions were impeccable. However this is not a subject to be taken lightly by the inexperience dabbler of magic learned through modern writings. This book will confuse those of lesser experience in the study of ancient Alchemy, which is part science and part art.
If you are one of those that thinks an Alchemist is a wizard stirring toads in a pot, this book will confuse you.
If you think Alchemy is all about magic, this book will confuse you.
If you have studied the art of transmutation of common metals into Gold, understand the theory of the philosopher's stone, or the study of awakening kundalini. You will find this book very helpful.
Again this is about gathering the fluid to make the powder that gives power by opening the third eye and awakening psychic ability.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite an eye opener, April 6, 2003
This review is from: Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits (Paperback)
I learned alot about the world of spirits from this book. I also learned to take it more seriously. The author gives a thorough lesson on the world of human - spirit interaction. If you are looking for a book that is simple, or one that is all theory, this isn't the right book. I certainly lays out for the reader how to go about intimate contact with spirits. I am not at all sure if this is the best thing for someone to do, but the information in the book certainly does cover the basics.

Unfortunately, it contains alot of information that would be better understood by at least a neophyte student of magic, and there are lots of terms that are just soaking in after the third read. Also one of his techniques for contact really does require his other book - new millenium magic - in order to be used to its fullest. You will have to search out some information in some other places. I still don't understand alot about using spirit names with sigils, and about telesmatic images. It seems the author assumed most of his readers would know where to get some of this information - I haven't a clue.
But spirit contact is not too hard to initiate because he does outline some simple methods too.
The history of intimate spirit contact is extremely interesting, and eye opening. Not being sure that it's a good idea, I am still happy I have the book and learned what I did from it. I certainly couln't have learned it anywhere else.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tyson was before his time., December 8, 2009
This review is from: Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits (Paperback)
Firstly, I am not a magician, or do I aspire to be one. I bought this book to understand some strange experiences I was having. Most books on the occult walk very lightly on the subject of incubus & succubus. They promise a lot, but deliver the same old tired Medieval info. I do not buy into the Christian notion that all that goes bump in the night are demonic. And if you're looking at such books as Tyson's, you probably aren't concerned with Christian outlook, anyway.
Although this book was a little pricey, I found it to be very much WORTH the money. ($50) Knowledge ain't cheap! I was astounded with the information within. It could be a college course on it's own. I wasn't really interested in the summoning part, although it was interesting to read through the the rituals. They do take a lot of space in the book. They seem to be quite detailed. I have no experience in the Golden Dawn practices, and certainly didn't realize they spent so much time in preparation for what they do. Good info, though. The chapters about bodily fluids did bring to mind some sympathetic magick practices, used by women for millenium, aka kitchen magick.

The book is divided into Theory and Practice. Here are a few chapter titles:
Spirit Sex in Magic and Religion, The Great Mother Goddess, Tantra and Tao, The Homunculus,
Choosing a Lover, Observations and Preparations, Middle Pillar exercise, The Physiology of Spirit Sex

My favorites were Spirit Sex and the Physiology chapters. The second was amazing. I have never read anything like it. It describes specific physical sensations to be aware of. Being female, my experiences were certainly different from his, but they were eye opening. I have read this chapter numerous times, and get more out of it, each time.

So the book answered a lot of my questions. I'm glad to own it it. It has given me some foundation for understanding my experiences, without being a member of the Golden Dawn. It remains something I refer to and reread.
If you are looking to summon a spirit to have sex with, and can get through all the preparations, you might just find what you want. There is one odd omission, I wasn't aware of initially. If a person had an entity they were trying to get rid of, how would it be done? I have my own methods, but the book is lacking in this area. The rituals get a lot of emphasis here, BUT do not SPECIFICALLY say how to send the thing away, for good. Nor does it say how one should eliminate an entity's sigil.
If you are buying this book to get a hot cheerleader type succubus, and accidently get an 8 ft. incubus -built like a football player- with a thing for your type, you may be somewhat f**cked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Children of Lilith, August 1, 2003
This review is from: Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits (Paperback)
In some of the previous reviews I noticed that there is some confusion on what Donald Tyson ment by "Children of Lilith." He wasn't refering just to "demons", but to any sexual spirit including Gods and Goddess. In fact he pointed to Gnomes and Undines as some of the best "Children of Lilith", which aren't demons at all, their elementals. He even to pointed to angels and other types of spirits as "Children of Lilith" as well. Lilith here isn't used in the demonic sense, but as the sexual side of the Goddess.

I applaud Mr. Tyson's scholarship. It is impeccable. He covers the wide ranging topic of occult sexuality through various cultures and religious traditions, in a concise, readable manner. . .not an easy thing to do.

I like that the book is separated in 2 parts--part one is mainly theory, and is a full complete work unto itself. If the reader feels ready for practical application then they can explore the second part of the book.

One of the first things taught in magick, is that if you summon an enity, you'd better know how to test it to make sure of it's true idenity/attributes and you better know how to properly separate yourself (banish) it. Good intentions are not enough. I found this important info lacking in the book. I do wish Tyson included more information regarding the lesser emmanations of Shakti energy such as Yoginis, HGA, or elementals.

I do recommend the book, but only for those who are experienced in magick.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for Dablers!!, May 22, 2003
By
This review is from: Sexual Alchemy: Magical Intercourse with Spirits (Paperback)
This book gives great information on how to and follow through. However, it is NOT for Dabblers! This information is only to be undertaken in the most protected magickal environments! Since you are calling up the children of Lilith, you are calling up Demons, dont cha know. Demons are base/lower beings and are volitile. These are not the demons of the Necronomicon who are some of the more civilized and honest and easy to work with in my personal experiences. Therefore, entering into sex with them gives them an invite, by you, into your deepest part, your soul. And upon doing this, the demon can begin to posess you. Either slowly and gradually over time, or in a deeply profound and shocking way as in Chaos Magik undertaken by those who are in mentally fragile or ungrounded states of mind. Bottom line...use caution, this is not a Milton & Bradley game. If your not a dabbler, and you've done the required protections, preferrably with help in the set up of these protections....have fun with your new lover!

after purchasing the book. i found it fantastic read. in the first few chapters the author discusses the history of spirit relationships. from the relationships of deities with mortals to the stories of lilith, the nephilim, the succubi and incubi.
although he mentions the djinn briefly. there is a lot of reading material on djinn relationships with humans. especially the infamous aisha qandisha who can be both good and bad.
all and all it is a good book.
