So why did I write this handbook and why do I think it's important? A short story should help answer that... Not long ago I was conducting a sexual harassment workshop and we were waiting for everyone to come in and sit down so we could get started. A man on the front row turned to the woman sitting next to him and said loudly, and I thought at the time jokingly, "What the hell are we doing here? I don't know what the stink's all about. Ten years ago you never heard anything about sexual harassment. Now there's something in the paper every damn day!" He got no reaction from anyone, so he went on. "I wish I could get someone to sexually harass me. I've been trying for years to get someone to sexually harass me and no one will do it." Then he burst out laughing. The woman he was talking to looked upset and embarrassed by his comments, and apparently she didn't believe, know, or care whether he was joking or not. When he made the second statement about wanting someone to harass him she delivered her comeback. She proceeded to tell him, in quite some detail, exactly why she thought no one would ever bother to sexually harass, emphasizing his lack of appeal, and according to her, his other not-so-endearing characteristics. Needless to say, that was the end of their discussion. Actually he was right, in the first part of his comments at least: for the most part, ten years ago most of us hadn't heard nearly as much about sexual harassment, and now there is something in the paper almost every day. The truth is it's just a very, very old problem, getting a lot of new attention. Sadly, anybody who has worked in the area of sexual harassment for any time at all will tell you that the same questions are asked time and time again. Sometimes it's just one or two people who ask the same questions over and over--usually because they didn't get the answer they wanted the first time, so they ask the same question again. But more often, the same questions are asked repeatedly by different people, simply because there is so little real knowledge about sexual harassment out there. One reporter was heard to say that, in her opinion, all that the polls about sexual harassment reveal is the lack of understanding on the part of the poll-ees. Anyhow, when these questions come up, it's always nice to have some straight-forward, fairly concise answers, so that's why I wrote this handbook--to try to provide some of the answers and to help put an end to the problem of sexual harassment--once and for all.

I am a trainer for a fortune fifty company and find this Guideline For Managers, Supervisors and Employees to be the best book available on the market to help educate our workforce. Thank you Susan Webb, this is a great teaching tool.

Sexual harassment cases and situations are very difficult. This work helps give supervisors and managers the edge. The more we understand and know about the difficulties surrounding these very unique and sensitive situations and how to handle them the less problems for everyone. Susan L. Webb is very proactive in her work. I also recommend works by victims as they can give you a sense of emotion from the view of the victim. Ultimate Power Enemy Within the Ranks is one such book. Another good book is After Silence: Rape and My Journey Back.

Books such as this serve as a valuable resource for everyone and I applaud Susan L. Webb for her great contributions.

I am suffering sexual harassment on the job and wanted a book that truly dealt with the ramifications from a legal and emotional perspective. I did not find what I was looking for.
