The author uses her practical experience along with her educational background to provide a practical guide for people seeking help in the area of sexual healing. The book is also a great guide for counselors who are working with couples encountering sexual issues in their relationships.

This book is a real gem if you have any sexual dysfunction that is keeping you and your partner from experiencing relaxed, joyful sex. The author is knowledgeable and takes the reader through the steps required to heal yourself and your partner sexually. A true gift. Highly recommended.

I can't believe I had to waste my time and money!,
This review is from: Sexual Healing: The Complete Guide to Overcoming Common Sexual Problems (Paperback)
I have long studied sexuality, the disorders, the cultures, and all other related things and I have read very few things that have been so useless. The beginning is a basic sex ed class, which is great for the people who have little or no knowledge of the parts and functions. As the book progresses into explaining the disorders and her exercises I got increasingly aggitated and angry that I had been forced to read it for my Masters level Sex Therapy class. The descriptions of the actual disorders were easy to read and fairly self-explanatory, but by the time I got to the exercises she suggested I was beginning to be irritated. All "exercises" are the same repeated over and over throughout the entire book, whether it is meant to be done alone or with your heterosexual partner. Just when I thought she had finally quit repeating the same things by chapter 28 and 29 I learn that she is even less helpful then I had previously thought. In one section she stated that women who have low sexual desire should wait until they have a partner to try to use products or techniques to increase their libido, but men were left out of this suggestion completely. During the exercises women were repeatedly told to pleasure the man for their own enjoyment. I felt that the notion that a women should take such great pleasure in touching her male partner was a bit misguided. Which is great unless this does not necessarily turn you on enough to no longer be labled as having a "disorder." Yes, she does tell the male partner to perform sensate exercises on his partner for his own satisfaction, but I felt that she didn't quite push the notion like she did with women needing to please their men. Men were first, period. In order for a woman with a sexual arousal disorder to work to change it she should have her male partner lay down with his eyes closed and she would then explore his body, and if she were lucky he might want to engage in some touching of his own. Seriously!? She was a sex surrogate with anxiety issues about "everything but sex" and was able to help other people with anxiety overcome it while she was having the same unattached sexual encounters "to help them" that she advised other women not to have. This book was a pathetic joke and I HATE that I had to read it. I quit at chapter 30 because I was so frustrated by overly stated, and sadly misguided advice. SAVE YOUR MONEY LADIES... unless you live to please him or he is the one with the sexual disorder, not you!!!

This is an excellent book. Very practical based on large experience and remarkable theoretical foundations to be read throughout. Improvements in personal sexual performance are obtained in return.

This is a powerful book. It is indeed a complete guide to overcoming many sexual problems. In my opinion we call them problems, but once you educate yourself with books like this, you realize that the problems are not the problems, the real problem with us women is ignorance and lack of education in sexual matters. As soon as you put in practice the principles of this book you start overcoming your problems.
One thing that is very interesting is the fact that by overcoming the sexual problems you empower yourself in all the other areas of your life. Because all the areas of our lives are connected, we make a disconnection, but the sexual life is intimately connected with our whole being, and as soon as you own your sexual life you will automatically improve your whole life. I highly recommend this book.

The book provides a nice educational reading, especially for those like me who do not really know so much. This book takes a nice psychological shot at both explaining and healing sexual problems. It is clear and informative. Overall, a good book.

Sexual Healing,

This review is from: Sexual Healing: The Complete Guide to Overcoming Common Sexual Problems (Paperback)
I purchased this book to help me with a sexual problem that most likely stemmed from a former relationship. After reading the full book as is recommended by the author, it was then that I discovered the book is really meant to be used with a partner. Well, if your problem stems from getting a partner in the first place, then this book is really only somewhat useful. It can achieve relaxation techniques and proper breathing exercises but that really doesn't go far in treating the problem for which I originally purchased the book. I am now considering enrolling in a Yoga class for even better relaxation and try to leave my love/sex life in the past where it was before I read the book.
