5.0 out of 5 stars Epic work, December 5, 2006
Eminent sexologist, Barnaby Barrett PhD, DHS, writes this epic work on human sexuality. It is epic, not due to its size, but in its vision for how profound and enriching human sexual expression could be.

Barratt discusses, from real-life events, the tragedy of America's bi-polar sexual compulsions, that of sex-phobia and sex-obsession, which create a volatile and unhealthy social environment.

Rather than gloomily cataloguing the sexual ills of American society, Barratt presents a bold vision for sexual health and erotic freedom beginning at the individual level, which will affect broader society not only for good but far beyond the scope of sexuality.

Barratt presents a paradigm that incorporates the broad scope of healthy sexual expression across cultures, psychological research, and medical knowledge. He also defines the elements of unhealthy sexual interactions in simple, accessible terms.

This book ought to be required reading in high school and college to prepare them for responsible and peaceful American and global citizenship. Likewise, every adult will benefit from carefully considering this profound volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars What Is Tantric Practice?, November 26, 2006
So, What IS Tantric Practice? Barnaby Barratt's volume is like finding the Cliff Notes for the Upanishads, the Vedas, and the Sutras, all rolled into one distilled and very accessible handy little book. If you care about Tantric practice in any form, you need this volume. There's a terse, illuminating history along with the kernels of philosophy that run like sutras or threads among all the Tantric teachings. If you have not sworn off sex and still believe it is your right, you will find your view reflected throughout the ages. Read this and strengthen your delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars He Tells it Like it Is!, November 29, 2006
What a incredible expose of the state of our sexual wellness! I read the sincerity and genuine expression of concern on every page. I hope that this book will open the eyes of the powers that be and that some of them will come to understand the sex-obessive/sex-phobic paradigm that we have created and are instilling in our youth - our future.

As a sexual healer and Tantra teacher, I have spent the past 10 years catalyzing many deep seated woundedings that have resulted from our loss of respect and awe for the very life force energy that created us and brought us into the world. Cloaked in shame and fear - we have shut down!! Thus we have shut down our passion and our compassion.

Thank you Dr. Barratt for writing this book. It is on my list to give to my loved ones this holiday season so that they better understand my lifepath and my mission. Most importantly I hope they understand more about themselves and their own misunderstanding about this powerful thing we call sex.
