a landmark collection,

It appears that this book didn't sell too well when it appeared, but it was still a landmark collection of writings that had long since been forgotten and were unobtainable. It reveals a whole subculture that florished just beneath the surface of British Victorian society. This book is a gold mine for anyone who is interested in this subject.
