Editorial Reviews

In a nutshell, Kim Cattrall's Sexual Intelligence is the audio/ visual companion piece to her bestselling book of the same title. Much like her book, the Sexual Intelligence documentary is a fun look at getting honest, serious and, educated, about why we want what we want sexually, albeit in an abridged and lighthearted forum. Your hostess Kim Cattrall, Sex In The City's "Samantha Jones," takes you far and wide in search of the history and roots of sexual desire. From the fertile hills of England, to the shores of Greece, into cities of Ancient Rome, through the Victorian Age and into bedrooms of the modern world Kim Cattrall and her panel of experts (and a few average spokespeople featured in her book) explore and discuss various aspects of the human sexual experience. One of the more interesting segments is a detailed breakdown of the ancient Greek tale of Eros (Cupid) and Psyche. Though not exactly a Joseph Campbell interpretation of the Greek myth, the analysis of how the Greeks explained the importance of balancing carnal lust (Eros) with the soul (Psyche) in order to achieve pleasure is extremely well done. Though Sexual Intelligence does provide some interesting commentaries and the bells and whistles you expect from the medium, it comes off a little light on the "whats" and "hows" of becoming sexually intelligent. If you plan on expanding your sexual mind, expect to pick up the companion book and start reading. But, if you are looking for fun, smart, escapism look no further. --Rob Bracco

Like my title says, someone must have had it in for Kim Cattrall to put her in this thing.
Steve Stubbs
I am a huge SATC fan, and I disagree that Kim was playing Samantha - she really wasn't.

The topic was well handled in a general sense. The format was quick paced and pleasing. Many of the issues raised were interesting takes on subjects that we intuitively know and understand, but Ms. Catrell reminds us of their significance. While there is nothing earth shattering on the DVD, it does serve to reinforce a common sense view of sex and the different ways men and women approach the subject.

This DVD, based on Kim Cattrall's book, Sexual Intelligence, portrays an excellent description of human sex powers. This documentary encourages us to sincerely believe that we should never be ashamed of our sex energies, but rather that we should rejoice in their ability to bring us emotional, physical, and spiritual pleasure. I highly recommend her book, as well as this DVD, to anyone who may feel ashamed of their sexuality, or struggle with their sexual identity.

While I love the cover artwork, the rest of the program isn't really all that sexy. The problem is that she's pretending to be SATC's Samantha Jones. I love SATC, but it's lame when an actor acts "in character" away from the show itself. In fact, it's embarrassing. Not only that, but the presentation isn't very good. Kim deserves credit for trying. Older women are very sexy. It's just a shame Kim Cattrall didn't host this instead of "Samantha-lite".
