Review

For those of you who are familiar with my work, you know that I always try to deal with the social ills of society in every book that I've ever written. This book is no different, but the issue that i deal with in this book is affecting our community in the worst way. I hope I'm able to shed light on it and open people's eyes to it. Thanks for your continued support. Enjoy! --Richard Jeanty

4.0 out of 5 stars Promiscuous Behavior!!!! (3.5 Stars), March 20, 2009
This review is from: Sexual Jeopardy (Paperback)
It's very fitting that, Richard Jeanty, the author who brought us Sexual Exploits of a Nympho and Sexual Exploits of a Nympho II, The Relapse decides to give readers the other side of promiscuous behavior with Sexual Jeopardy. Sexual Jeopardy introduces readers to Ron an charismatic night club owner who does very, very well with the ladies. Just when Ron finds the special woman that he wants to share the rest of his life with an ex-lover contacts him informing him that she's HIV Positive.

Ron's world is turned upside down, before he can get his test results back his ex is hospitalized and deteriorating quickly. Ron is scared and anxious but also avoiding his fiancee who he doesn't want to confess to or possibly further expose until he learns his status. Ron decides to confide in his best friend Myles but Myles's reaction teaches Ron the stigmata that associated with HIV.

Sexual Jeopardy is definitely a book that I would classify as Edu-tainment. Some parts of the book are a bit preachy but it's definitely a lesson that needs to be taught and I commend Mr. Jeanty for doing so!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is so good it should be required reading for freshmen in college, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Sexual Jeopardy (Paperback)
What can I say other than he did it again? This book was magnificent from the beginning to the end. The beginning started off real hot and steamy with Ron and Myles trying to impress the hottest women in Miami without really having the ends to do it. It was truly a hilatious trip until Myles and Chenille decided to get serious and expected Ron to slow down. He was being a hata and that made Ron's success with the club all the more interesting with his sexy ladies. But the really good part for people that are really avid bookers like myself and that appreciate getting something from a book, is when AIDS is brought up and Ron potentially has it. It opened my eyes to a lot of statistics that I knew nothing about. I mean I know that AIDS is out there but to this extent, it actually scared me. It make me think about my past history and it will make anyone who reads it do the same thing. I would recommend this book to "real" book readers that know what a "real" book is about. I would also recommend this book to seniors in high school and freshmen in any college. I think that this is the time where women and men are the most vulnerable to sexuality and the wonderful feelings that it can produce like in the beginning of the book (lol). But on the serious note I truly believe that this book could save the lives of some young adults who are not aware of these statistics. It is full of ENTERTAINMENT as well as EDUCATION and that is what real books are about.

Richard Jeanty is an excellent writer who continues to do nothing but impress me from day to day with his talented and creative stories. Every author has their niche as well as their star and his is definitely with his attention to detail as well as educating and entertaining at the same time. I know that this is something unique because very few authors have done it. This is definitely one of my favorite novels by him!

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost a homerun, October 13, 2008
This review is from: Sexual Jeopardy (Paperback)
**SPOILERS** This is my third book by Mr. Jeanty and I must say that I really enjoyed the first 2. This book, for me, was a little different. I was enjoying it until Ron had an AIDS scare. That's when this book became 2 different books. The story seemed to really slow down at that point. Instead of continuing with the story he started preaching and throwing stats at us. But I'll get to that in a minute. Let me tell you what I loved about this book.

Ron was a man who enjoyed the company of women. LOTS and LOTS of women! I'm sure this is a fantasy of a lot of guys and its kinda fun living vicariously through a character as fun and outgoing as Ron. He enjoyed life and life enjoyed him back. Richard paints a very vivid description about Ron's life, his friends, his ambitions, and yes, his extremely active sex life. The first part of this book (page 1 to page 150) was sexy, fun, and sultry. I was having a real nice time picturing Shauna and Chenille... as well as the other women Ron and Myles would hook up with. I was cracking up at them trying their best to budget for these women on the last night of the trip. Letting them have lobster while they had chicken!!

Anyway, this story came to a screeching halt for me, as I said before, when Ron found out that he might have AIDS. Right then this book took a bad turn and stopped becoming a story. I was slapped left and right with all kinds of stats, preaching, and conspiracy theories. Look, I know this wonderful country has a lot to answer for with how they treated our people, but I'm not going to subscribe to every theory out there. Blaming Bush and the CIA for the spread of AIDS is just stupid. There are just too many other reasonable explanations as to why it's so virulent and has swept the globe. You can't on one had say that the Bush's are stupid buffoons and then on the other hand say that they could have orchestrated something as massive, global, and devastating as AIDS. Even if that were true (it's NOT) still doesn't explain the fact that the fastest ways to pass it is through unprotected sex. So what now? It's the Bush's fault that we don't wrap it up? It's the CIA's fault that men on the DL have unprotected sex with both men AND women? Seriously?!

There were other things that Richard alluded to but I don't need to make a list. The fact that I'm even writing about it maybe means that THIS is what the author wanted to do... start a discussion/dialogue. I think there is a way to incorporate both the story line and your views without being preachy or slowing the story down. Unfortunately it wasn't done in this case and the story wasn't as good as it was before page 150 because of that. Once we got pass that slow section, the story picked up again but all the wind had left the sails and it didn't have that same punch as before. I understand what Richard was trying to do with trying to open our eyes, especially since this is having such a HUGE effect on our world in general, our people to be specific. I just wish the story didn't have to suffer because of it.

Once the story got going again I was pretty pissed with Myles for tripping on Ron, and I do wish Ron Nia the best. I'm definitely going to read more by this author because I do enjoy his work. I actually had the pleasure of meeting him at the BEA this past year in L.A. He signed the book I bought, gave me one from an author he's trying to promote, and took a few pictures with me. I love when authors take the time out for their fans. I gave it 4 stars because the book is really good, less the conspiracy rant lesson/preach session in the middle.
