Editorial Reviews

Review

One of Choice's Outstanding Academic Titles for 1995

"Sexual Selection provides a masterly account of both the complex mathematical theory and the relevant data.... [It] deserves to be widely read as a definitive summary of what we know about sexual selection and as a guide to what remains to be done."--Trends in Ecology and Evolution

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Ono No Komachi on January 28, 2006
Format: Paperback
Very well written and well organized comprehensive review. The book is aimed at a specialist audience, but is accessible to anyone who has basic knowledge of evolutionary theory. Perhaps the best aspect of the book is the author's description of how the conclusions discussed were reached, his thorough discussion of alternative ideas, and his willingness to admit what cannot be concluded from available evidence.

The author barely discusses humans, but for anyone interested in how sexual selection has affected our species, get the real story of how sexual selection actually works and then start to think for yourself.
