In this updated edition (the first was published in 1997), he discusses and answers questions about transmission, symptoms, treatment, and prevention of common STDs including HIV/AIDS, genital herpes, and chlamydia. The second edition is very much expanded with more than 70 figures and photographs (the photos alone should deter readers from risky sex). Editor and author of the chapter on "Statistics and STDs" Robert J. Banis is a Ph.D. Biochemist with new product development background in the biomedical field. He is currently employed as a teacher of statistics-related courses at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, and has authored a variety of print and electronic audiovisual materials for educational applications.
