Biography

Beck Hansen was born and raised in Los Angeles. As a teenager, Beck became immersed in traditional blues and folk. When he was 18, he moved to New York where he became part of the city's late 80's "anti-folk" scene, playing at various small clubs around the East Village and Lower East Side.

In the early 90's, he moved back to Los Angeles, and continued to write and perform music, sometimes alone… Read more in Amazon's Beck Store

5.0 out of 5 stars MORE AWESOME SINGLES AND REMIXES, March 6, 2003

This review is from: Sexx Laws (Audio CD)
I found this CD at the used CD shop labelled "Mildred Pierce Free Disc For Midnite Vultures." While I don't really know what that means, I am glad to get a disc with the exact same songs listed here. "Salt in The Wound" is a great single, with some funky guitar and cool lyrics. This is definitely one of my favorite non-album Beck songs, maybe top 5. "This is my Crew" is completely groovy and way out there, but in a great dance-pop-funk way. Along the lines of other Midnight Vultures tracks, probably closest to a mix inbetween Debra, Mixed Business, and Hollywood Freaks PLUS an atari video game YOUR WHOLE CREW IS WHACK. Funky base riffs and some atari score noises make it very cool. The "Malibu Mix" of Sexx Laws is top three of my favorite Beck remixes including "Bonus Beats," and the "Latin Remix" of Mixed Business. Probably 3rd on the list just because the others are so cool. Malibu has some new touches that really spice it up. All in all a real winner of a single, all three songs definitely worth your time.
