Sexy/Dangerous is Right!,
By
This review is from: Sexy/Dangerous (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms. Bev has done it again with another hot, action packed novel! Max is amazing, sexy and dangerous and Adam is sexy as heck! I was on the edge of my seat reading this wonderful action packed novel. I love the fact that some characters from her historical novels were again added in this story too! Once you get started on this story, you won't put it down until the end and you will love it from the beginning to the end! As always after reading Ms. Bev's novels, I go back and read about their relatives mentioned in her books from her previous novels. Another great story Ms. Bev.

A Sistah who can Handle Busines!! Awesome!,

This review is from: Sexy/Dangerous (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a story worth staying up all night to finish. Dr. Adam Gray, considered by most to be super nerd, first African American genius. He is on the verge of presenting one of his inventions that could revolutionize the world for both good and evil. But he doesn't want protection...that is until he meets Max Blake. Max, ex-marine, ex-cop, undercover FEMALE agentwith two Huge Rottweilers, Ossie and Ruby, at her side. Oh Heck No!!
As he continues to work on his invention, it is Max's job to protect him at all cost. Until they both become aware of each other. Max shows that she is more than capable of protecting the doctor and Adam shows that there is more to him than math and science. Ms. Jenkins has once again demonstrted that NO ONE can pen a romance/thriller like her. The story is fast paced, action-packed, threaded together with hot romance. If you are a Jenkins fan, you will come across old favoites, Mykal, Saint and Portia, but you will instantly fall in love with the new characters. Peace and Blessings !!!

She's done it again!,

Sexy/Dangerous is a wonderful read. I read it in about 2 days. It had me cracking up! Ms. B's humor is too funny. Max was a bad something. And Adam was not your typical scientist at all. Nothing nerdy about him!!! The dogs in the story were too funny and cute as well. The story was fast paced and I could definitely see it played out as a movie. Also along with Ms. B's other stories it was HOT! You get to catch up with old characters from her other contemporaries and we get to meet a new character as well and he is something else. Ok don't want to give too much away. Go ahead and get your copy. You won't be disappointed!

So Sexy it's Dangerous!,

The latest of Ms. B's books is ANOTHER winner! Max is a tough sistah that you just HAVE to love. And we LOVE a man like Adam who lets us real sistahs BE ALL that we can be! All of Ms. B's stories weave intrigue, actual history, non-stop, and breath-taking action (in & OUT of the bedroom:-). Her love scenes are beautiful and seductive, not low-class pornography. Ms. B's plots are rich. Despite the fact that the age-old "boy-meets-girl" theme is predictable in that you KNOW who's going to get together - she'll have you rooting for their bond to make it through the challenges they encounter.

Loved it!!!,

If you want a page turner that you can't put down, then this is the book for you. I loved Max. She was a real go getter who fights like no other woman you have read about. But still not only is she tough, she is tender. I loved Ruby and Ossie made me wish they had spent some time with Jesse and James. Like the other comments I hope their is a book about Sweetness. He deserves his own story, possibly another brother?
Ms. B. great job. I love knowing she is related to 2 of your famous historical go getters as well.

Do people really talk like this?,
By
This review is from: Sexy/Dangerous (Mass Market Paperback)
This writer was recommended to me by a friend and I must say I am honestly disappointed. First of all the dialogue was so stereotypical it was almost insulting. If I read one more "brother" "girlfriend" or "true dat" I thought I would scream. Do people really talk like this all the time? I certainly don't nor do I know of anyone who does (and yes, I am African-American). And the killer was that EVERYONE in this book talked like that, so for me it was a big distraction from the story.
Speaking of the story, it started with a bang literally so it caught my attention, but I found as I read that major choices, that the characters made, or chose not to make, to accelerate the plot made little sense. Why keep a staff member that you know is there for the ulterior motives of someone you don't like? When you know the bad guys have a bead on your secret location why wouldn't you leave immediately? These are just a couple of the plot points that make no sense while leading to big action sequences. I had several other problems with this book including the lack of diversity in the cast of characters. Okay, yeah, there were white people, but they were racists trying to set up their own country with a new aparthied. Am I reading too much into the message of that plot point alone? I don't know if all of Ms. Jenkins books are written in a similar vein, but honestly I'm almost scared to find out.

I have enjoyed Beverly Jenkins for years and was not disappointed with Sexy/Dangerous. I loved, loved, loved it! It was action packed and fast paced and full of romance! BJ included references to some of my favorite characters in previous novels, i.e. Saint and Mykal and Loreli.
I would hope BJ has a surprise for us soon with the Sweetness and one with MAX's sister. too. I hope we do not have to wait long for her next one.

delightful contemporary romantic suspense,
This review is from: Sexy/Dangerous (Mass Market Paperback)
At the Madrid conference on alternate energy sources, Dr. Adam Gary's presentation was an eye-opener as he explained his revolutionary breakthrough on fuel cells that require plentiful and cheap carbon to replace expensive rarer metals like gold and platinum. However some listeners decide they want Adam and his invention so they send thugs to attack him in his room, but he surprises them when he fights back.
To protect Adam, the Feds place him in a safe house in Michigan, but he limits security to no one. Thus the government sends ex marine security specialist Maxine "Max" Blake as a housekeeper to keep the "brother" safe. When she arrives, he is unhappy because he expected a male Max not a tall beautiful sister who he does not think sibling thoughts about as he stares at her starting with her Stetson hat and continuing slowly down to her cowboy boots; her two companions, Ruby and Ossie, don't make it any easier on the scientist as even rottweilers should not be so mean looking when they stare at him and so loving when they look at her. As they fall in love, an emotion neither wants as his work is his sweetheart and she has failed twice with marriage, those who want control of Adam's research try to abduct him with only mad Max and her canines in the way. The lead couple makes for a delightful contemporary romantic suspense as each is competent, likable, and brave with only love making them fearful. The story line is action-packed from the opening attempted abduction in the Spanish hotel and never slows down as the unknown enemy makes several attempts to snatch the genius until the final encounter in the Lincoln Room. Though Adam is too capable as a warrior, fans will appreciate Beverly Jenkins coupling especially a kick butt heroine and her Einstein beloved. Harriet Klausner

Sexy and Dangerous is aptly named for this book!,

This review is from: Sexy/Dangerous (Mass Market Paperback)
This is yet another great book in the contemporary series written by Ms. Bev and in my opinion this is her best contemporary novel to date. What happens when a gorgeous female bodyguard gets assigned to watch over a fine top scientist? In the world of Beverly Jenkins, Explosive chemistry, that's what!
"Sexy/Dangerous" is high charged with just enough attraction between these two characters! Dr. Adam Gary is at the crux of making an important discovery that will change life as the world knows it when someone leaks information on the Internet about his work, and puts both the project and Adam in grave danger. The government gets involved, hiding Adam in his secluded old house and hiring a top-tier bodyguard. Maxine "Max" Blake is take-no-prisoners tough, complete with attitude--and a body to die for. Neither Adam nor Max is particularly happy with their new situation, but as danger mounts, passion flares and both may just get more than they bargained for! I enjoyed the relationship between Max and Adam. They were two different people with fire and passion for each other. One would not expect a scientist to be able to throw down like that in the fight scene or the love scene. The story contains intrigue, suspense, humor and love scenes that are so well written you will need your man close for re-enactment. The love scenes are hot and erotic without being pornographic. "Sexy/Dangerous" is a definite page turner and hard to put down book. If you haven't read the others then you should check out "The Edge of Midnight" and "The Edge of Dawn." |
