Originality still reigns supreme!!!!, June 12, 2003
This review is from: Sexy Karate (Audio CD)
WOW! This is the best 2SJ record yet. Finally they are free from the prison of record labels and radio stations. I'm not surprised that I didn't hear any of these tracks on the radio. They didn't have a label paying off the radio jocks this time! For those who have watched the J's progression, Sexy Karate makes sense. Little by little they have developed from a jokester party band to innovative and original music pioneers. The closest band that they resemble, is the Beastie Boys who started with "License to Ill" and ended up with "Hello Nasty". I bet a lot of people who were introduced to the band through their radio singles will not be into this record. Good. Let the people with taste buds for something different sample the aural delights that this band serves up.

Another Great Album from the J's, April 9, 2003
This review is from: Sexy Karate (Audio CD)
2 Skinnee J's is one of those bands that are hard to classify, and that's a big part of their appeal. A mix of hip-hop, rap, rock, their music belongs in a category all its own, and if you liked the J's other albums, you'll enjoy this one too. If you've never heard 2 Skinnee J's, well, it's hard to find anyone else to compare them with. Check them out!
I think this is the smoothest sounding J's cd yet. It's solid all the way through, whether they're rockin' and rhymin' fast with "i can't hear you"; or slowing it down some with "inside my room"; or even spending some time to bust out political messages in "who wants this?". And in every song, the J's mix it up with their typical creative lyrics. In fact, that's probably the biggest disappointment of the cd: no words of the lyrics are included.
While "Sexy Karate" may not have the manic energy of "Super Mercado", there is still plenty to enjoy, and you have to enjoy any band that is as original as 2 Skinnee J's. On their last cd, "Volumizer", some fans complained about songs along the lines of "Lemon Drop" and "Grown Up", but I don't think those fans will have anything to complain about this time. Solid J's all the way through.
This is the kind of band you'd like to see last forever. But like they say, I guess, all good things...

2 Skinnee J's Do it again!!!, April 9, 2003
This review is from: Sexy Karate (Audio CD)
2 Skinnee Js have done it again. Sexy Karate is another work of art. They are one of the best live bands in the World today in my own opinion. Sadly, they will be going their seperate ways this summer so make sure you see them live soon. This album is just brilliant as is their other albums. I personally recomend Deal of the Century and Who Wants This? as the best songs on the album. There is not a bad song on this Album, just like with their other two full albums. I recommend this highly and I will play this CD and remain a dedicated J's fan until the day I die.
