~ 4 out of 5 stars - Picked by Poison ~ "I liked Nana's writing style and how she made her characters quirky and fun, and not the usual romantic type."

USA Today Best Seller, Nana Malone's love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin.
It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.
While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

Sadly, the description of this book is deceiving since graphic sex is not mentioned. I have a hard time believing that the rave reviews are for the same book I read. Sexy in Stilettos is flat out porn. Take out the repetitive, numerous and graphically depicted sexual acts and the entire book would be about 20 pages since the storyline is just an afterthought. The typos one wouldn't find with a spell check show me a lazy author. For instance "...he covered her lisps with his." Huh? How exactly are lisps used to cover lisps? Oh yeah, it must be lips not lisps. Yeah, lips. And another where the author mentions "call in the Calvary" Uh, Calvary is a place and not easily moved or called. Try cavalry. Better yet, get an editor.
Whipped right through this book. A Very quick, fun read. It is told primarily from the POV (not first person) of the heroine, Jaya. I loved Jaya's voice. She was funny with a quick, sarcastic wit that I could totally relate to. At one point she is describing the scene she walks in on with her ex-fiancee and her sister:
"All I know is I came home to find Tamara faking it like a porn star in my bed. No surprise really. He was terrible in bed."
Her inner voice, with all her pithy observations about the people around her, is just as funny.
Her relationship with Alec is sexily explosive. It is one of those where they have a hard time keeping their hands off of each other even thought they really don't want to have a relationship. And they are sexually adventurous. I think I would have been somewhat annoyed with the pre-occupation with the sex if the author hadn't also established that Alec and Jaya were also attempting to connect outside of the bedroom.
She is uptight, a little OCD, and plans her life by lists. Alec is a rolling stone. If he is anywhere for too long he starts to feel suffocated. He is determined to make her act a little more impulsively. She is just as determined to push him on what she sees as his waste of potential.
I could have easily rated the book a whole star higher, really. The back-story for both Jaya and Alec, especially their relationships with their respective parents & siblings was really quite good -- the stuff that some great emotional heft could have been attached to. Unfortunately, I think both these areas got the short shrift. Jaya's troubled relationship with her father is dangled tantalizingly in bits here and there.Read more ›
I'm upset with this author. I like this book and thought it could have been awesome...if the author had just had it EDITED! Ugh so frustrating to be into a good book, a book that makes you happy to be reading it and find yourself stumbling over the sentences because of wrong words, missing word, extra words, etc. Nothing ruins and intimate scene more than to have to stop reading and try to figure out what author is saying. Now your flow is messed up and so is the mood. Like if you're in the room with a sexy guy he is dressed nicely, smelling good, he removes his pants and has on some holy tighty whites!
I thought the sex scenes where darn good (minus the errors). I didn't feel like I was reading the same sexual scene each time, which is good considering how much sex is in this book. But don't get me wrong the author is quite repetitive another thing that irked me. I think if she had this book over looked by an editor hopefully they would have removed some of this for her.
The description pretty much sums up what happens in the book. It's an interracial romance. Alec (white) that runs into a crying Jaya (black) in an elevator and having no other choice, he soothes her.
This book still gets 3 stars even with all the other stuff mentioned. To me, it reads kind of like Fifty Shades of Gray sexually but a bit better because of the creativity and freshness. Her writing style is sort J.R. Wardish to me. EDIT authors, you really are doing your work a disservice by not at the very least have it proofread. A lot of these mistakes could have easily been caught by beta readers that you asked to review for grammer errors.
I gave this 3 Stars here that rates okay but I liked it a bit more than okay. But I'm taking a star for the errors.

I loved this story from start to finish. Jaya is the responsible, list-making, very controlled adult. Alec likes to move from one place to the next without making any commitment. Even though they are completely different, they couldn't be more compatible.
Pros: Alec and Jaya together are just HOT (I mean the sex was STEAMY).Also this book had a solid plot, with well-defined characters, and a strong supporting cast.
Cons: There are none
Overall this book is as sexy and sassy as the author says it will be.
"Sexy in Stilettos" has enough drama, mystery, and romance to leave you fully satisfied with your purchase!!

Great story. While someone else posted that this was a porn book, that is so not true; however, it's not a chaste book either though. Great story of Person A having a horrible day when she runs into/meets Person B and is horrified at how she's acting. She never expects to see him again, and, out of habit hands out her business card. She is shocked when they see each other a few days later. There are about four sex scenes in this book, one may be a little over the top than what others are use to, but still nothing is porn written.
