4.0 out of 5 stars Wow, how cool are they, in their own skin, beautifully dressed, tenderly captured
A self-made photographer begins taking portraits of people around him. People ask him to capture them at their best, so that they can seduce those they love. And that unconditionally. A series of studio photographs taken in the Republic of Mali in the 1960s and after... They are strikingly well-dressed! Ordinary people of Africa presenting themselves as well as they can...

2.0 out of 5 stars was not as advertised
Damage indicated in original advertising was mis-leading, to say the least.

This review is from: Seydou Keita--African Photographer (Hardcover)
A self-made photographer begins taking portraits of people around him. People ask him to capture them at their best, so that they can seduce those they love. And that unconditionally. A series of studio photographs taken in the Republic of Mali in the 1960s and after... They are strikingly well-dressed! Ordinary people of Africa presenting themselves as well as they can. From individual portraits to family, conversation pieces, every page is a delight. Toward the end there are pieces taken outside, intentionally looking like snapshots (but they are not). Full of African faces, thick African atmosphere. You'll be surprised to examine their faces and learn the continent's overwhelming genetic diversity!
