I keep seeing people compare this 2009 remaster to the 1987 disc... but what if you have the 25th anniversary disc? Can someone compare the two versions if they have them? I'd like to know about packaging as well.

I picked up Revolver, White Album, Abbey Road & Let It Be today (late era fan), but wondering if I should get SPLHCB as well. Already decided I'll probably upgrade Mystery Tour as I think I have the '87 version of that (plus I want the MMT booklet).

Any help would be appreciated.

Welp... went home only to find out that it IS the 1987 version I have. d'oh! I'll probably get the new one. But still... I've seen no one compare it to the 2002 version yet.

Sorry - I don't know of any "25th anniversary" Pepper! It was digitally mastered, along with the others, and released in 1987. The 2009 remasters are the first sonic upgrade since then. Please get Pepper remastered, it is wonderful.

I thought for sure they re-released it in 2002 for the 25th anniversary (and now that I think about it.. that would actually have been the 35th anniversary, but I digress..). But I guess they didn't (perhaps they re-released the 1987 version? eh.. I dunno).

Anyway.. yes, I did buy the new Pepper. I'll probably get Rubber Soul and For Sale this weekend and I'll have all of the new ones except the 1st three and Submarine. I have the 1st three from 1987 for now and may pick the news ones up eventually. I've been really enjoying this past week with the Beatles. ;-)

They didn't re-release any version until the remasters. There was a special version of the White Album that came out though.

Why does the amazon listing on this page say (2002) then? When you search Sgt. pepper there's 2 listings. The 2009 remaster and one with (2002) as the date. Maybe it's the 1987. Idk.

It was remastered by Geoff Emerick for a mono/stereo double album reissue but that planned reissue which got to the artwork/mock up stage was not released.

Aside from that the only remaster is the 2009.
