5.0 out of 5 stars to those disco freaks that love cheesy films!
Yes, I'm a HUGE fan of Peter Frampton and the Brothers Gibb and I'm an even BIGGER fan of cheesy films. I've been hunting down this soundtrack on CD since wearing out the VHS I checked out from the library. After having the DVD fall on my foot at my local Walgreen's (and watching it 7 times over 3 days), I'm now starting my search again for the awesome soundtrack. I'm a...

2.0 out of 5 stars not as magical as it was in the 70s
this was my introduction to beatles music. it is a product of its day, and was magical at the time it was released, but it certainly didn't hold up well. i guess the bee gees are not the gold standard they once were.

I'm a bit miffed that the tracks are out of order, but it's no big deal. If you love Frampton's guitar work, the BeeGee's vocals, and a cheesy film from '78 to boot, then by all means, get it. For those haters that don't like disco-fied Beatles covers, well, all I can say to them is pfft (oh, and not buy it if they're going to just fuss and cuss about how it's not 'right').

4.0 out of 5 stars Admirable Effort From Frampton and The Bee Gees, August 12, 1999

Since its release in 1978 both critics and the general public have ruthlessly slammed this album, my guess is out of a sense of fanatic loyalty to the Beatles opus and I've never understood why; I've always been of the opinion that Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees did a rather admirable job on this album and they never set out to do a note for note re-make. I like the melancholy feeling Frampton injects into "The Long And Winding Road" and personally think that his version stands toe to toe with Paul McCartney's. Robin Gibb puts a nice, bluesy spin on "Oh Darling", and I love the harmonies of the Brothers Gibb on "I Want You/She's So Heavy". Their voices blend together seamlessly and effortlessly.

Sandy Farina sounds especially vulnerable and touching on "Strawberry Fields Forever", offering a new perspective on the song from a woman's point of view. I also like Diane Steinberg and Stargard's (whatever happened to that group?) sexy delivery of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" as well.

After being out of circulation for at least a good fifteen years, personally I am glad that this album is now finally available on CD and am the proud owner of this great album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, January 25, 2009
This review is from: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I guess the response was overwhelming for a CD release, but I couldn't wait for the release of this music on CD, so I bought a turntable, cakewalk software, and created my own digital tracks. Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees are great. Back in the 70's, we didn't have CD's, so the whole album had to be great, because there was no way to easily skip to the next song. This CD is definitely worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, February 20, 2006
This review is from: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)

I love Sgt.Pepper's lonely Hearts Club Band !!!
At least three times a week I listen to it. I've
always been a huge fan of the "Beegees " , and it gave
me a chance to enjoy other singers, even George Burns.
I also bought the movie on DVD and VHS.
I love all of it. The music is great !!!
I love dumb movies, and the movie was dumb, but a lot of fun !
In the future, I hope to buy more copies of the CD and the
movie.

Sincerely,
Beverly Joseph

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, April 18, 2011

This review is from: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This is exactly what I've been looking for for many years. The original motion picture soundtrack of one of the most underrated musicals ever done. Yes, it's weird! Yes, it's fun! Yes, it's Bee Gees and Peter Frampton! But most of all... Yes, it has "Come Together" by Aerosmith in its original package!!!!! I can't wait to hear from the edition of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" in DVD for Zone 2. Sure I'll have this one as soon as it came out!!!!

Sorry for my english... I'm Spanish. And for the ones you don't know, we don't talk very much English down here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheesy?, February 14, 2011

When this soundtrack was released it was panned by the critics, but overtime the cheesyness of the effort begins to grow on you. Nostalgic cheesyness is like a guilty pleasure. Since I love the Beatles, renditions of their classics like "For The Benefit of Mr Kite" provides new perspectives on their work. This was never a hit, but it's such a great song as it puts you in the circus. The production of the material is first rate and it has a cast of thousands, a splendid time is guaranteed by all!

I no longer have this album however the moment I put the CD in the player I started singing and this movie came flooding back to me. I felt like a teenager again. I realize most people hated this movie and the songs but I enjoyed it and it made me happy. I don't know what the Beatles were on when they wrote these songs but I am so glad they did. Peter Framton, The Bee Gees, Steve Martin, Aerosmith, Earth Wind and Fire and of course the great George Burns - a movie like this will never be made again. This is a fun CD for a road trip and will have you smiling and singing for hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, May 10, 2008
This review is from: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This CD is wonderful. It is so hard to find soundtracks that not only have every song but are sung by the singer in the movie. If you loved the movie you will want to add this CD to your collection

5.0 out of 5 stars The "ULTIMATE" Beatles Tribute Album, December 19, 2001
By
Frank R. Schoonover (Niagara Falls, New York USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I've read so many harsh reviews on this website for this album that it's insane.I also ask myself"WHY?"This album is the soundtrack to the 1978 musical film of the same name"Sgt.Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band".In my humble opinion, this album is severely underrated. The majority of these songs were written by Lennon and McCartney. The only exception is Here Comes The Sun which was written by George Harrison.

What Robert Stigwood didn't realize at the time was that he was getting together an album that would be one of the first rock'n'roll tribute albums. When released in 1978,it would quickly climb to #5 in the U.S.A(where it was released on RSO records)and going GOLD and #37 in the U.K.(where it was released on A&M records). The majority of the album would be produced by George Martin(who also produced the majority of The Beatles albums).Maurice White and Jack Douglas were also in tow to produce a couple of songs.

Musically,Peter Frampton lays down some of his best guitar solo's.Robert Ahwai also plays guitar.Wilbur Bascomb plays bass guitar.Bernard Purdie plays drums and percussion.Max Middleton lays down some great keyboard work with George Martin playing additional keyboards. The Tower of Power horn section also lays down some of it's best KILLER horn work.Aiding and abetting are an ensemble of other talented musicians.Jeff Beck,Larry Carlton,Ricky Hitchcock,Ray Russell and Freddie Tackett lay down some guitar work of their own.Clive Chapman and David Hungate(a one time member of TOTO)also play bass guitar.David Paich(another TOTO member)also plays keyboards.David Dowell and Jeff Porcaro(another TOTO member who died at the still young age of 38 in 1992.May he rest in peace)also lay down some additional drum work.Tommy Reilly plays harmonica.Francis Monkman lays down some Moog synthesizer.Ray Cooper(Elton John's percussionist during the 1970's)and Victor Feldman lay down some additional percussion.Altogether under Martin's direction, they make up"The Greatest Rock and Roll Symphony Orchestra" ever assembled.Of course,we can't forget Harry Bluestone and Gavyn Wright who are the orchestra leaders respectively.Frank DeCaro and Martyn Ford are the music contractors.

Vocally,Peter Frampton,The Bee Gees,Aerosmith,Alice Cooper,Earth Wind and Fire(EWF),Paul Nicholas,Billy Preston,Sandy Farina,Dianne Steinberg and Stargard as well as George Burns belt out some of their vocal work.Alice Cooper does a deliciously evil version of Because with the Bee Gees doing background harmonies.EWF,with Maurice White at the helm, deliver a mesmerizing R&B/Soul styled version of Got To Get You Into My Life.Aerosmith, with Jack Douglas co-producing with George Martin, deliver some infectious hard rock on Come Together.Robin delivers a hauntingly poetic vocal on Oh Darling(RSO had so much faith in this song that they released it as a single and voila,it would become a top twenty hit when it reached #15 in the U.S.A.).Steve Martin's vocals on Maxwell's Silver Hammer affirm the novelty status of this song.Dianne Steinberg delivers an angelic vocal on Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds alongside Stargard.Dianne Steinberg returns with a "Cutesy-Bubble Gum" styled duet with Paul Nicholas(Heaven On The 7th Floor) on You Never Give Me Your Money.Sandy Farina also offers some angelic vocals of her own on Here Comes The Sun and Strawberry Fields Forever.Sandy Farina and Frankie Howerd(FH) duet on When I'm Sixty Four.FH will also sing a solo on Mean Mr.Mustard.George Burns even has a vocal moment of his own on Fixing A Hole.Peter Frampton does a fine lead vocal on Golden Slumbers and The Long And Winding Road. The Bee Gees alongside the rest of the musical cast fill up the majority of this album.Altogether, thay create one of the finest moments in pop music. It's also the "ULTIMATE" tribute to the greatest rock and roll influence the world has ever known. It's also the only tribute to the Beatles to own.Whether you are a Beatles or Bee Gees fan or a fan of any of the performers who perform on this album,it must be in your musical library.Because it's"The "ULTIMATE" Beatles Tribute Album!!"No other Beatles tribute album even comes close(Two years prior to this album, the Bee Gees also contributed vocals on another soundtrack of Beatles covers entitled "All This and World War II".They sang Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight,Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window and Sun King).

Overall,no Beatles or any Bee Gees fan for that matter should be without this album. The only Beatles tribute album to really own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relaxing and Fun Movie, July 2, 2006
This review is from: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This is an excellent movie; one of my favorites cause it is just so fun to watch and the music is good. I can't believe it has been about 30 years since the movie came out. I could watch this movie over and over and play the sound track over and over too; in fact I have done just that!!!
