Shaar Hagilgulim, November 10, 2008
This review is from: Shaar Hagilgulim: The Gates of Reincarnation (Hardcover)
This book is the english translation of Isaac Luria's Gates of Reincarnation. It is translated well keeping as close as possible to the original text. The translator assumes that the reader already has an understanding of Lurianic ideaologies as well as Rabbinic texts. If that is your situation then this is a good text for understanding one aspect of Lurianic Kabbalah. However if that is not your situation some prerequisites are needed to fully understand the perspective of the author. Some texts which may help to ground the reader are Lawrence Fine's : Physcian of the soul, healer of the cosmos; Kabbalah of Creation by Eliahu Klein or Allen Afterman's Kabblah and consciousness to name a few. I give it four of five stars because it does not include the original Hebrew text for those readers who want to refer to a word or concept in Hebrew for further clarification.
