It Keeps Getting Better,

This review is from: Shacked Up (Hard Cash Trilogy) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second novel of the trilogy. This novel is even better than the first. Now, Rich is on his own and readers get to see everything that comes with it. Cann is an excellent writer and keeps the reader hooked. I can't do anything until I finish reading her novels. I was even reading this novel on Thanksgiving Day! I love how Cann can use imagery, vocabulary, and a good strong plot to make a novel that's intriguing! This is a must read!

Shacked Up is an extremely well written contemporary novel by Kate Cann. Cann uses universal literary techniques such as detailed characterization and unique diction. In addition, a strong plot and picture-perfect imagery make this an enjoyable book to read. The characterization becomes apparent in the first few pages of the story. Immediately the reader knows how Bonny feels, and that it is because of her crazy mother, Tigger. Also, as a reader I knew exactly how Rich felt every single second throughout the book. The great thing about the vocabulary is the British words thrown in. This story does take place in London, or somewhere near, so an England dialect makes for a unique reading experience. The purpose for Kate Cann to publish Shacked Up is for the entertainment value. She does an amazing job in entertaining the readers. Every page made me more and more interested in what was going to happen next. The ideal audience for Shacked Up is teenagers who normally do not enjoy reading. She does a great job with attracting that type of person. This, along with the other books in the series, is the only book I have ever been able to not put down, and actually read outside of school for fun. |
