Okay. I finished this book a few days ago now and I think I'm ready to write a review. It's not that great. It's weird. I feel myself being drawn to these characters. I like them and I don't mind spending time with them. I just don't think they're in the right hands. They're not being given very interesting stories or even very interesting things to say. I don't understand how an author could come up with such intriguing characters, but then not be able to tell their stories properly. It upsets me. They deserve better than this.

Let's start off with my first complaint. All the men in this book (with the slight exception of Mr. Black) speak exactly the same. Most notably, Mr. Red and Mr. White. Barely anything differentiates these men. Even Blue and Brown sometimes sound the same way. I do understand the subtle differences between them, but they don't have unique enough personalities. I think that's why I'm always rooting for Black when I'm reading. He's the best guy there, so why does Alex feel nothing for him?? Drives me crazy. And IF she's going to feel something for White, why not actually do anything about it????? They should at least talk about their feelings or kiss or something! It's not even sexual tension, the way it's written. Not that it has to be some crazy romance novel, it definitely shouldn't be, but please! Give something! I'm begging you!

JC Phelps needs an editor badly too. I can overlook the occasional typo, really I can. But not like this. First of all, learn the difference between "your" and "you're"; "their", "there" and "they're"; and "its" and "it's". Those mistakes are unforgivable in my reader's mind. I can't take it. Secondly, make sure you know what the words mean that you're choosing to use. Well known phrases are repeatedly misused.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shades of Grey! NOT 50 Shades of Gray! May 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you bought this title thinking it was something else, you should read the book information better. This is from a series of books that has been out for a few years. Book One was a finalist in the Amazon/Createspace Breakout Novel Contest. Color Me Grey (Book One of the Alexis Stanton Chronicles) Just because some big wig author used the same title for their "Mamma Porn" is not this author's, or this book's fault. Learn to read the book description before you buy. I love the Alex Stanton books. Book 3 - Reflections of Grey (Book Three of the Alexis Stanton Chronicles) is available as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring and Badly Written August 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I read this and the first book against my better judgement, and I was right! These books both suffer badly from a lack of editing and common sense.
Why anyone would think they can charge good money for such poorly constructed material is beyond my ken. Why, why, why waste the time and money necessary to read such tripe. !!!!!! DON'T WASTE EITHER and don't bother to read the rest of the Alex Stanton books. It's a exercise in bad judgement to spend either on these books.

This is poorly written and mostly boring. There are a few entertaining passages;that's about it. The Story of O (years ago) was better

2.0 out of 5 stars Did not hold my attention. December 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is pretty boring. A lot went into describing surroundings which were in themselves were BORING. A lot of repetition as events were relayed over and over to the characters. I lost interest and did not finish it. This author may eventually be better, though.

It was a good fast paced read, and I would recommend it. Some books I have gotten lately haven't been good enough to even finish.

The Alexis Stanton Chronicles have been the most enjoyable works she's written. Color Me Grey, the first book in the series, introduces the characters she has come to love. Shades of Grey and Reflections of Grey continue with the same characters and were equally as fun to write.
