5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best in the genre, November 17, 1999
This review is from: Shades of Blue (Audio CD)
As one of the best recording stars in her genre, Francine Reed excels in her latest album. She plays locally in Atlanta, GA frequently and the only regret I have is that you cannot experience all of the richness, complexity, and wit of this amazing person on her CD that you get live.

Francine Reed has proved herself to be the best female blues artist singing today. This cd is very satisfying because it includes some great jazz numbers. In time Francine will raise to the top in the blues scene.

I have played this cd over and over and have yet to tire of it. Even if I get in a mood for something else for a day or two, Francine well be back in the player before the week is out. This has to be one of the best blues/jazz/romantic cd's ever made. I played it for a lady at work, which was a good thing, because she had to have one too! So now I can leave mine at home/car, and listen to hers at work. She's as fond of it as I am!

4.0 out of 5 stars She Makes Arizona Proud, December 5, 1999
This review is from: Shades of Blue (Audio CD)
Having for years seen Francine Reed live in person down in the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix, Arizona for you non-natives)I am pleased that she has embarked on one of the most promising recording careers I've seen come from our state.

This album definitely merits anyone's listening pleasure and it tops many of today's comtemporary R&B and Blues singers.

Fine job, Francine. Fine job, indeed!

This CD is fabulous. I've listened to it a hundred times. Other voices pale in comparison. I wish this wasn't her only recording, or I wish some other artist came close to making such fabulous music.

If you like the blues, you'll love this CD. I first saw Francine Reed in Scottsdale Arizona, in the early 80's. It's good to see someone with real talent be successful. If you pass up this CD, you're missing out on a real treat!

I wasn't familiar with Francine Reed's work. A friend recommended this album. I'm glad I purchased it. She has a wonderful way with the blues and a unique voice. If you're a fan of the blues and haven't "met" Miss Reed, I suggest you don't wait any longer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Blues, January 6, 2010
By
This review is from: Shades of Blue (Audio CD)
I accidentally stumbled across Francine and what a great stumble. She reminds me of Louis Armstong with her vocals. She has the perfect voice for the blues and knows what inflection to use depending on the verse. The one thing you can't fake with the blues regardless of your voice qualities is the inflection and heart you bring to the song. Francine knows how to bring it. Francine is a great throw back voice that personifies the blues. This is a perfect album.
