A must-read murder mystery. . . . This book is excellent from beginning to end and the mixture of mystery and romance will leave the reader wanting more.

Speaking of characters, there are NO redeeming male characters in this book, except (perhaps) Ben (who is dead from page one, so I can't be certain). The men are manipulative and are constantly preying on the woman when they are at their most weak/vulnerable-- and of course the women go along with it because they just can't resist-- and somehow we are supposed to think that is romantic?!
I downloaded the book looking for a good thriller/mystery and ended up with a thin plot, terribly unrealistic dialog, sexual manipulation disguised as "romance," and characters for whom I felt absolutely nothing (except for the men, who I mostly abhorred). Glad I didn't pay for this one.
I have a kindle fire so it is very easy to highlight words or whole sentences where I found problems with the story. I got totally confused between who John and Jim were. It appears to me they are one in the same guy, because I couldn't figure out who came to check on Sam's place and met Maggie in the process and the guy Maggie fell in love with. And there was the guy Abby, Caleb's sister, kissed; was it John or Jim or was there really two different men with those names and I missed it (and if I did, I apologize)? Or did the author forget which name she used for this love interest of Maggie's, and which one Abby kissed, I had to ask myself? In an author's first book, they tend to use the same letter for the first name in the book and it makes it quite confusing. I know, I've done it too.
For a first book, I did enjoy the story line, and it was an enjoyable light read.Read more ›
I just wish the author had thought certain things through before publishing. She could have come up with more realistic avenues to make the story great.
