5.0 out of 5 stars Best PS3 Controller Around!!
This is the best controller you can get for the PS3. It has a build similar to the Xbox 360 controller and it feels real comfortable in your hands. With this model they have also added rumble and sixaxis support, so you wont need a dualshock at all anymore! They have also fixed the dead zone in the analog sticks, which is great because this controller goes great for FPS...

I am leaving my original review since that was what I experienced when I FIRST bought the controller, it is now headed for the trash. I am back to the dualshock 3, even though the sticks are in the wrong place, it's in perfect condition after much heavier use than this thing.

I wish I would have listened to the other reviewers, this is a waste of money. I apologize to anyone who bought this thing after reading my review.

----original review below----

This controller does what it says it does, it's basically an xbox 360 controller clone for the PS3.

There are only a couple of downsides to it in my opinion:

-the triggers are almost worse than the dualshock 3, the shape is better than DS3 but the feeling is downright awful with them.
-it requires a dongle to be plugged into the ps3 at all times. This isn't that big a deal, but it can be annoying.
-it turns itself off automatically and sometimes gives me a hard time reconnecting to the console, sometimes it won't come back at all without plugging it in via USB.
-it's not as comfortable as it should be, the "wings" are very narrow which forces your hands inwards, which creates discomfort after playing hard stuff.
-the analogue stick buttons (clicking down on the stick) is VERY loud, almost comically loud. Luckily most games do not use this at all.
-shoulder buttons are not great, you have to press them in strongly, otherwise they can disengage (like when you're aiming.)

But there are also very strong positives:

-it's not perfect but it is more comfortable than DS3. The finish on the plastic is very nice, it is a solid improvement on the DS3.
-it feels rugged, not cheap and lightweight like the DS3.
-analogue sticks are excellent, I like these sticks better than xbox 360 sticks, that's how good they are. This is the biggest selling point for me.
-solid buttons, no issues with them.
-good battery life (so far.)
-rumble works as advertised, so does sixxaxxis.
-it's good looking.

Is it worth $50 dollars? Sort of, a brand new 360 controller costs 40 dollars, but until we can use those (properly,) this is the next best thing I've found.

With this model they have also added rumble and sixaxis support, so you wont need a dualshock at all anymore! They have also fixed the dead zone in the analog sticks, which is great because this controller goes great for FPS games and you want the controller to be as precise as possible. The only thing I dislike is the D-Pad. It feels a bit too stiff for me and it clicks when I push down. Other than that though, it is a great controller. It is very responsive and it feels great! Highly Recommended!!

Bought this to use with Killzone 2. I love the XBox 360 controller and this seemed to be the closest thing to it. The controller itself feels great to use and I really wish it had worked well for shooters. I have to agree with other comments that the "dead zone" when aiming is just too large. It really makes it unusable for shooters. It's unfortunate because otherwise it's a great controller.

I am a big handed person and this fits them well. The caseing is very solid. The finish feel is the best of any controller I have owned. It almost has the feel of the 360 controller.

I bought the controller for Shooters but it is no good. There is a dead space between right and left with the analog sticks which makes fine aiming impossible. I took it apart and sad to say that it is because of cheap analog buttons! The hole is slightly larger than the pin. Wish I still had an original xbox controller to swap them out.

After 1 1/2 months the buttons are all ready sticking. This is because the buttons are not in an enternal inclosure and become etched. So taking it apart for a clean will not help. Two can not be used at the same time because the wireless signals interfere with one another and shuts each other off.

Mt thoughts, do not buy. DreamGear has a great idea and hopefully continue to make improvments to this product.

Okay, so here it goes. I've been on this epic search to find a ps3 controller that rivals the wonderfully designed xbox 360 controller... and guess what... this controller did it!! I took it out of the package and the second I put it in my hands it felt phenomenal! So I turned on Killzone 2 super excited to test this baby out and... the DEAD ZONE is horrible!!! Please save yourself the trouble and DO NOT BUY THIS! If you play FPS games (who doesn't?), trust me these analog sticks and the enormous dead zone will kill your accuracy and you won't be able to play for more than five minutes before getting too frustrated with your inability to finely adjust your aim. Not only that, but the R2/L2 buttons are terrible as well! Sure they fixed the shape and made them concave, but they feel terrible... not sure how to describe, but trust me you won't like them!

So frustrating, because they absolutely nailed the comfort and design for this controller, but epically failed on the analog sticks and R2/L2 buttons.

I really think this product deserves more like a 3-star rating since it's so close to being perfect, but I needed to give it a 1, so people would know to stay away.

I had high hopes for this but was sorely let down. The thing feels great in the hands but handles like crap!
What great idea with P-poor execution. The thumbstick has a odd delay before it executes on the screen. Seems to drag along rather then precise movements. I absolutely loathe the standard Sony PS2/PS3 controllers and hoped this one would be exactly what I was looking for but alass....I was sore wrong.
I would absolutely not recommend this to anybody unless they want to completely frustrated during game play. The game I was playing was Resistance: The Fall of Man.
The left stick worked satisfactorily but the right stick "dragged along" behind my thumb movements making it IMPOSSIBLE to do precise aiming of the gun. Adjusting the "Look sensitivity" within the game options was worthless. Since this is a flaw within the actual construction and execution of the hardware I am keeping it as it is of no fault of Amazon. I had reviews on this device saying the same thing so I can't blame that on Amazon. Although it is workable and I will keep it it takes half the fun from the gameplay and replaces it with frustration.

Still looking for the perfect replacement of the craptacular standard PS3 controller.

the remote is very cool and comfortable but in the spec it says it was sixaxis and is not i try it with Lair and it didnt work at all. very disappointment because is the only remote i have and now im going to have to buy a PS3 original to have a sixaxis remote but other than that the remote is very comfortable as i said and is very easy to get use to maybe not as good to play shooting games like MW2 but is good.

Analog control was not sensative enough out of the box and triangle button didn't always register. Trigger buttons (L2, R2) were slow to respond too. dreamGEAR payed for shipping back to them to fix it and send it back to me or give me a new one. They claim analog controls and buttons should all match quality of the Sony Dualshock 3. We'll see when I get it back. Love the left analog being higher though for sure.

Unlike a few reviewers here, this controller has worked near-flawlessly for me. The thumbsticks work well, and the whole thing has a very comfortable feel. The main reason for getting it, of course, is to fix the location of the left thumbstick (moving it up, similar to the Xbox 360 controller), and it does a great job of that. Also, as an added bonus, the triggers are much better than the really bad design Sony uses on their controller. That being said, I have a few complaints that keep this from being five stars...

First of all, like other after-market controllers for the PS3, it requires a dongle. This isn't so bad, but you do lose a USB port. Also, you cannot use the controller to turn on the PS3. Finally, if the controller completely shuts off (due to inactivity), you have to get up and walk over to the dongle and press a button so it starts looking for the controller again. These are not huge complaints, but something people should be aware of.

The other issue I have centers around build quality. While this controller does feel good in the hands - with nice rubberized grips where you need them - there needs to be more smoothing of the balls the sticks rotate on. This just means, in my case, that the left thumbstick has a slight notchy feel when I point it up.

All in all, a good replacement for the Sony six-axis. I have both, and I use this over the six-axis exclusively.
