Book Description

August 1, 1999
Short Fiction. "In SHADOW BONES, Memmott pursues vectors that glance through sci-fi and fantasy on into other magical and imaginative spaces, never ceasing to pose the central ontological question: 'What does it mean to be human?'"--Brian Evenson. "For David Memmott, Speculative Northwest's secret weapon, reality in our age of Rust and Robots is about as stable as one of those particles in whats left of a Chernobyl core: always on the verge of shimmering into something that will take your breath away with its mythic resonance, wise magic, and compassionate imaginative fire. Onto the unknown!"--Lance Olsen. David Memmott is a Rhysling Award winner and a Fishtrap Fellow.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"In SHADOW BONES, Memmott pursue vectores that glance through sci-fi and fantasy on into other magical and imaginative spaces, never ceasing to pose the central ontological question: What does it mean to be human?' From the residual memory of clones to a grandfather teaching his grandson to fish for the moon, these unique stories manage to entertain while quietly eschewing the snug comforts of genre. A promising fictional debut." -- Brian Evenson, author of ALTMANN'S TONGUE and FATHER OF LIES

"For David Memmott, Speculative Northest's secret weapon, reality in our Age of Rust and Robots is about as stable as one of those particles in what's left of a Chernobyl core: always on the verge of shimmering into something that will take your breath away with its mythic resonance, wise magic, and compassionate imaginative fire. On into the unknown!" -- Lance Olsen, author of TONGUING THE ZEITGEIST & TIME FAMINE

"Dave Memmott is the kind of man who has sailed across the cyan seas of many different realities. Throughout his travels he has brought back powerful tales, pearls of wisdom, and icons of mysterious origins. Now you can journey with Memmott by the reading of his magical adventures. Each story is a key to a mythological language. By reading Memmott fictions, you will become a better person with a deeper understanding of things both seen and unseen." -- Misha, author of RED SPIDER, WHITE WEB
