A Navajo boy's struggle,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Shadow Brothers, The (Hardcover)
It is about a Navajo boy who must become foster brothers with his dad's friend's son. He goes to a high school where he is the only Navajo boy in the area. He has arguments with his foster brother but gets good grades reads a lot and writes poems. His brother gets jealous of him because he is more popular at school and has a better job and has a girlfriend (His foster brother won't even talk to girls). I didn't like this book because it didn't keep me reading. The conflict in the book didn't show up until the last couple of chapters. If I could have rated this book with 0 stars I would have. If you think you would read this book -Cal Cameron by Day Spider-Man by Night-is another book by A.E. Cannon.

Shadow brothers ,a.e cannon,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Shadow Brothers, The (Hardcover)
the book was mainly about how Henry & Marcus went through their lives together in school.the way they get through each other dating,& not getting angry or get sad at each other.Like how Marcus had to get through folowing in Henry's shadow. How Henry had to get along (or try to get along) folowing in Frank's shadow because of him losing to him several times. Mostly how Henry & Marcus keep their friendship going. one reason i liked the book are i connect with Marcus by feeling like iam folowing in a persons shadow. Henry i can connect with because some people folow in my shadow as well.

Living in Shadows,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Shadow Brothers (Paperback)
The search for personal identity, heritage, and the desire toachieve dreams are all sub-topics that are introduced in A.E. Canon'snovel for young adults called "The Shadow Brothers." Marcus and his Navaho foster brother Henry have a close friendship and sibling relationship. However, Marcus struggles to find his own identity because he feels he is lost in Henry's shadow of intelligence, good-nature, popularity, and great ability to run. Marcus also struggles with the choice of defining and learning more about his Navaho heritage versus accepting a great job opportunity. I believe "The Shadow Brothers" is a great book for young readers. They will be able to relate to the characters and events in their lives such as growing up, following your dreams, having a crush, and facing competition. A.E. Canon also cleverly plants a seed and enables young children to begin thinking about relevant issues such as race and assimilation. Young reader have the opportunity also to learn more about individuals of different heritages. And as equally important as the content of the book, "The shadow Brothers" is a fast-paced,witty,narrative that is sure to entertain.

The Shadow Brothers,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Shadow Brothers, The (Hardcover)
I really liked this book. We had to read it for school, in English class. It's about two boys who are juniors in high school, except the book is geared towards younger grades (we read it in seventh grade) so that's kind of strange. Anyway, Marcus Jenkins and his family had a Navaho boy come live with them as a foster son. Henry Yazzie, who was the son of Marcus's father's friend Lenny, was the kid. He and Marcus were best friends. Now, they're sixteen, and they're starting to grow apart. Henry starts to date Celia Cunningham, an "insincere" popular girl at their school, Wakara High. Marcus is starting to feel lonely, and Henry starts to wonder more about his Navaho heritage. Anyway, you should read the book for the rest of the plot. I loved it!

The Shadow Brothers,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Shadow Brothers, The (Hardcover)
The Shadow Brothers is mainly about how Marcus always follows Henry. Marcus and Henry both run for the track team. Henry is very good at poetry, and girls are attracted to him. But when Henry gets a girlfriend, he starts to to ignore Marcus. But in the end Henry and Marcus get back to being best friends.I liked and hated the book. I liked the book because It's interesting, it was funny and it was a good book. I didn't like it was because it was kind of boring, I couldn't remember what I read, and some parts is wasn't interesting. My favorite part of the book is when Diana calls Marcus late at night to go help her rescue a cat. So Diana, Marcus and Henry go and look through a dumpster and when they find the cat it really smells. But Henry and Marcus get to keep the cat and they named it Lazarus. I would recommend this book to other people because I liked it more than I hated it. I would recommend this book because I learned a lesson at the end and it was really good!

My book was The Shadow Brothers .This book is about two brothers who aren't even related.(by blood anyways)The one boy that isn't related to this family is a native american who was adopted by this family. The one brother that isn't adopted looks up to the one that is.I find that odd .I don't know why I find that odd,but Ijust do.Back to the story. They buy this car together. The adopted brothers a track runner. They have problems in the story bluh...bluh...bluh. Well my reasons why I didn't like this book is because it didn'thave any simalarities with me.Another reason is I don't like storys about boys.I like storys about girls. ...
