Excellent Series, October 13, 2010
This review is from: Shadow Children Complete Set, Books 1-7: Among the Hidden, Among the Impostors, Among the Betrayed, Among the Barons, Among the Brave, Among the Enemy, and Among the Free (Paperback)
This is an excellent series that children love. I teach 7th and 8th grade and read them this series. They love it! When we finish one book, they can't wait to start the next. Many students read ahead because they like it so much!

Sparked My Son's Love of Reading, August 19, 2011
This review is from: Shadow Children Complete Set, Books 1-7: Among the Hidden, Among the Impostors, Among the Betrayed, Among the Barons, Among the Brave, Among the Enemy, and Among the Free (Paperback)
I knew it was inside of him, but it took this series to unleash it. My son is a reluctant reader with dyslexia. Neither of these facters mattered once he picked up this series. He enjoyed them very much. The reading levels are at a doable range for him and the stories keep him coming back for more.
His teachers approved the use of these stories in book reports. There are various themes and subjects which are interesting enough to spark imagination as well as lead to a comparison of our society.
If you have a middle or high school student who is a low reader, pick up this series. Encourage your school libraries to buy the entire set if they do not already have them on their shelves.

Got my daughter to read, January 3, 2012
This review is from: Shadow Children Complete Set, Books 1-7: Among the Hidden, Among the Impostors, Among the Betrayed, Among the Barons, Among the Brave, Among the Enemy, and Among the Free (Paperback)
I haven't actually read the series myself (though I will be!). I was having trouble getting my 4th grade daughter to read, so her teacher recommended this series, which she said she reads to her own children. I checked out the first book from the library, and my daughter wouldn't put it down. Soon I was scrambling to find the rest of the books. She started reading this series less than two months ago and has already finished all 7 books. Now I don't know what else to move on to which will capture her attention like this! My daughter is not a low reader, but we were just having trouble finding books that interested her. I tried all kinds of popular series, and this is the first one since the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series that she has really liked. I have a younger son who is also reluctant to read, so I will probably end up buying the whole set to have around for when he's ready.
