Slick visual treat. Great for parties, gigs, etc.,

For those that can't grasp the concept...
If you don't like the "lousy electrontic music" that comes on the disc, turn down the volume and play your own instead. That's the whole idea, Einstein.

The Best Party Visuals YES GIRLS LOVE IT!,
By Allison Faith (Scottsdale,AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shadow Dancers Vol 1, Let's Get The Party Started (DVD)
My girlfriends and I really like to party and this DVD has a great effect on the fun we have. I had seen Shadow Dancers on screens in bars and clubs around the country and always thought it to be really cool. Also, when we got into a limo in Vegas it was on in the Limo! But it really got us going when my best friend had it on her big screen at her house party, it loosened everyone up and got the dancing raging, after that is a party to remember;-) Everyone needs a copy of this DVD! What a great gift!

Shadow Dancers rocked my world,

Having just moved to Los Angeles i am still getting used to the glitz and glam of the party scene out here. Just the other day I went to a Hollywood party with a friend and saw this Shadow Dancers DVD playing on all the plasma screen TVs in the place. I was truly impressed with the vibe that the girls and trippy backgrounds gave the party. It's like the modern day lava lamp, a great addition to any party big or small. I just ordered my copy last night and can't wait to throw my first LA party

Start the party off right!,

I couldn't think of a better dvd for a host or even a dj who wants to get people onto the dancefloor early and help in creating that party vibe. Nobody wants to be in an atmosphere that's lacking a full sensory experience and excitement. This is a great investment and very easy to use.

Not the best volume,
This review is from: Shadow Dancers Vol 1, Let's Get The Party Started (DVD)
I bought this for a NYE party after seeing it in a Honolulu bar several times. Unfortunately, it was not the same volume from the bar. I have a feeling volume 1 was an experiment and once it proved successful better talent was sought for subsequent volumes. I'd recommend a later volume unless you are gung ho and get the box set (which would be kinda scary honestly)
Regardless, this is worth the purchase even if you only use a few times. Best for a projector, but I throw on my LCD from time to time for after hours parties - reactions are priceless. Needless to say the music on the video is total crap - you'll want to mute and playing something else for sure.

kinda skanky,

Okay, it must be said, sorry but these chicks are skaaaanky! I'm a professional dance club DJ. I've played clubs of all sizes, many with paid stage dancers in various states of dress and undress. I bought this DVD because I thought it would be good to play at smaller venues that have screens but no stages for live performers. I don't know where they found these women, but it certainly wasn't at any of the top Las Vegas clubs as the advertisements imply. I'm a professional, and if I'm showing a video of dancers, they better be professionals too - hot, tight, and able to get down. These women are anything but. They're not particularly good dancers - their skill sets seems better suited for a low class strip club - and their bodies are, well, sloppy. If you're gonna strut your stuff for a living, you better be all that! Some of the women in this video have floppy butts (yes, I said "floppy"), bulges where there shouldn't be any, and other physical issues that no one wants to see. (One woman has no chin. I don't know what happened to her chin, but every time her face struck a profile the people I previewed this with said "ewww".) It's a great concept, just poor on execution. Maybe other videos in this series have better looking and more skillful dancers. Skip this video if your intent is to use it in a professional/commercial setting. It's probably fine for home party use, though.

What a great idea! This DVD works in 'any' party situation, whether it be a giant nightclub, bar, fraternity party, or your everyday house party. The women and effects on this DVD looked amazing on any size screen. This WILL be a huge impact on the social scene! GREAT JOB!

What a waste of our time,

This is one of the dumbest concepts to come along in a very long time. It is a marriage made in hell - lousy electrontic music (which I can't get out of my head and gave me a headache) with fourth-rate videography of "strippers" dancing in silhouette. (Talk about false advertising, these aren't "shadow dancers").... it is one non-stop Apple iPod commercial of girls (we hope) backlit and gyrating.
Save your money and get something else. |
