3.0 out of 5 stars Shadow Dancing
Not as good as "The Record" & Andy Gibb's -"Andy Gibb". Yet, it does hold good songs of Gibb's. I wish he didn't die so soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classy Pop, December 22, 2002
This review is from: Shadow Dancing (Audio CD)
This megaselling album kicks off with the brilliant title track that topped the charts for 8 weeks way back in 1978. This song represents the cream of the disco genre - melodic, passionate and hypnotic. Why is a great ballad with a compelling chorus and lovely backing vocals, while Fool For A Night, written by Andy alone, is a neat piece of pop. This is followed by the catchy hits An Everlasting Love and Don't Throw It All Away, the second one a smoldering ballad. My other favorites include One More Look At The Night and Melody which again is more pop than disco. The best tracks here: Shadow Dancing, Why, Everlasting Love and Our Love, were all produced by Barry Gibb, Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson, so that distinctive late 70's Bee Gees sound is prominent. But with his voice and phrasing, Andy stamps his own personality on this classy and engaging collection of superb songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Album That Topped The Charts!, May 30, 2001
This review is from: Shadow Dancing (Audio CD)
In 1978 all four Gibb Brothers wrote, produced and released the Top Song of the year, "Shadow Dancing". It settled Andy Gibb into mainstream conciousness as a rock star and teen idol not to be dismissed. It garnered more hits like, "Why" (released overseas), "Everlasting Love" and the #2 unbelievably beautiful ballad, "(Our Love)Don't Throw It All Away". The other six songs are strong as well, but don't reach the level of intensity, save for "I Go For You", which was donated to UNICEF. This album reached number one and the reasons are all in the ear.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lost Gem: Shadow Dancing by Andy Gibb, March 1, 2006
This review is from: Shadow Dancing (Audio CD)
1978's Shadow Dancing is another lost and forgotten GEM. The majority of the album is produced and written by older brother and song writing genius, Barry Gibb. Although, Andy has a lot of input in this one. Vocally, I think Andy was the stronger singer out of the 4 brothers, he tends to emulate Barry, but with more range. Together he and Barry's harmonizing flow like running water in a sweet Spring stream. The band is as tight as they could ever be, lovely strings, they are at their peak. Think Children Of The World, Main Course, or (even the well over hyped) Saturday Night Fever period. And this one doesn't get nearly enough press, if any, but deserves the praise and then some!

Besides the big hits, this package also offers the stunning, "Good Feeling," probably one of the best Gibb produced track of all time! Midway through the album is the killer "One More Look At The Night," a smooth jam that will remind you of "Nights On Broadway." "Fool For A Night" has a nice Caribbean feel and a clever lyric to go with it. The ballads are breathtaking from the essential version (the Bee Gees did a nice version, too) of "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away," "Melody," to the album's closer, "Waiting For You," you don't feel more emotion in Andy's voice on any other album, this is definitely the one. He and Barry reached a creative high point on this one. 5 stars, baby!

Rest in peace, Andy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shadow Dancing is great disco dancing!, January 25, 2005

Following the 1977 release of Andy Gibb's debut FLOWING RIVERS,this album was released the following year with more hits. SHADOW DANCING was the first hit from this album and was written and produced by Andy and his brothers,The Bee Gees. EVERLASTING LOVE was another hit. Andy was still on the covers of 16,Teen Beat and Bop. Andy also was flooded with fanmail. When this album was released, the Bee Gees started to work on their SPIRITS HAVING FLOWN album. TOO MUCH HEAVEN from SHF was released as a single in the fall of 1978,several months before the release of SHF. Also in '78,the Bee Gees' hits MORE THAN A WOMAN,NIGHT FEVER and IF I CAN'T HAVE YOU(recorded by Yvonne Elliman) were on the pop charts. All the other songs are good.

5.0 out of 5 stars a true masterpiece, December 12, 2006
This review is from: Shadow Dancing (Audio CD)
this cd is the ideal mr. gibb work of art so much emotion and pain in these beautifully sung songs andy gibb may have been brother to the bee gees but he sits very much in a category of his own for those of you who do not own any of andys cd's this will be the best choice you make start of with shadow dancing you will be more than satisfied with your purchase then if you buy flowing rivers the songs that standout are i just want to be your everything, love is thicker than water, and in the end flowing rivers has more of a country flow to it but still good and very mellow after dark the last cd of andy's career is nice and there are some songs like warm ride, i can't help it, one of two duets with olivia newton john desire is sensual track overall a very nice cd to own as all of us fans of andy buy all of his cd's he's a delight to listen too you better get shadow dancing quick there are less than ten on this great site!

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Shadow Dancing (Audio CD)
Two teen dream records from the 1970s still make the cut after all these years: Shaun Cassidy's "Born Late" and this one. The main factor seems to be a genuine listenability - a pleasant blend of roller-disco pop and melow synth ballads that just seems to get more charming with the passing of years. Maybe the 70s weren't, in reality, a more innocent time, but you can't tell from this batch of winning songs. From 'Melody' to "Fool for a Night' and, yes, "Shadow Dancing", Andy runs the A to B of teen emotions. Coupled with the fact that the baby Gibb brother seemed to possess a genuine talent, Shadow Dancing stands as a fitting, and enjoyable, record of a really fun decade.
