Espaillat's weakest book,
By adead_poet@hotmail.com "adead_poet@hotmail.com" (Beaumont, tx USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: The Shadow I Dress In (Paperback)
This is Rhina Espaillat's longest and weakest collection of poetry. Following three great books of poetry, she has produced a work that is simply not up to the standard I have become used to seeing from her. The poems are not as original nor is the language quite as seemless or beautiful. Not that there aren't some good poems ("To Diana" and "Shop Talk" are among the best she has written), but this just isn't what I've come to expect from an Espaillat collection.
