Religious and Racial Intolerance is Alive and Flourishing in America,
This review is from: The Shadow of Hate: A History of Intolerance in America (VHS Tape)
From the opening footage of the KKK through the closing shots of Neo-Nazis, this video presents a detailed accounting of how the native americans, Irish, Chinese, Japanese Americans, African Americans, Hispanics and Jews have been treated in "...the land of the free"! Prominent figures in our recent past are discussed for their furtherance of prejudice and hatred towards select groups of people as well. This video is an accurate historical presentation outling prejudicial treatment of select racial groups through the past 300 hundred years. I use it regularly in my high school history classes and recommend it to you as well. It would be nice to have an accompanying worksheet to use with it.

Exposing our intolerances as HATE...yes HATE!,
By KerrLines ""Movies,Music,Theatre"" (Baltimore,MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Shadow of Hate: A History of Intolerance in America (VHS Tape)
I have two VHS copies of this and now I own the DVD.If any documentary in 40 minutes can so expose the root causes of hate and intolerance, especially in America, then this is the only one that I have seen to do it so well and so concisely.I have felt, personally, that intolerance has really reared it's ugly head in recent years, and I find this video/DVD all the more necessary to view, share and recommend.Race, religion, creed, gender and sexual orientation are covered here...no holds barred!
When I used to teach, I showed this video all the time. Now that I don't teach,I lend it out to those who agree with this DVD and those who are in need of ridding their own prejudices and hates.America is and always has been full of intolerance and this documentary is bold enough to call it hate.I agree totally.I have always said,"I would rather be loving than right"...and you may quote me on that! See how tolerant you really are, then get back to me!

The Shadow of Hate: A History of Intolerance in America is eye-opening for adults as well as teens. I have seen many young people begin to question their racist thoughts after viewing this film. Remarkable!
