pretty detailed book,
By Big Sexy Joe P (MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Shadow Hearts: From the New World (Prima Official Game Guide) (Paperback)
Here we go! This strat guide was better than I thought it would be its one of the biggest guides I have ever seen {beside Radiata Stories}. I also would like to say that the walkthough portion of the guide is about as detailed as you can get. It explains just about every item locale on the map like ring fragments, stellars, accessories, and where key npc's are. The item lists, weapons, and equipment are all listed in detail, also gives you in depth ways on dealing with all the boss fights. The best part of the guide is the sidequest parts I don't think I have ever seen a more detailed sidequest index in my gaming life[except for the pifight portion]. There is a few minor flaws in this guide to make it a five, but a strat guide is to help you if you get stuck not to hold your hand and powder your bottom! What I am saying is if you are a gamer {RPG} then you should play the game without the guide first and then use the guide to see what you may have missed. In ending I would like to say I do reccomend this book Prima did a great job, unlike the job bradygames did on SH2!

Does the Job,
By Marc Ruby™ "The Noh Hare™" (Warren, MI USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Shadow Hearts: From the New World (Prima Official Game Guide) (Paperback)
This is a simple, businesslike guide that does an excellent job of giving you what you need to get every enjoyment out of the game. Prima seems tospecialize in this time of guide - printed nicely, clear maps and diagrams but without the extreme glitz of less useful guides that spend too much effort being souvenirs.
From The New World in an interesting change of pace from the first games in this series. There are a lot of interesting side details, thand Prima makes sure you know about them. These guides get hard to track down after the game has been out for a while, but if you can find one consider getting it as a good companion while you are saving the world.

Just like an Prima guide, this one is a good addition.
Prima have their feet on the ground and their hand's in the dirt, this guide is no exception, you actually get the feeling they really played this game.

Shadow Hearts FTNW strategy guide,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shadow Hearts: From the New World (Prima Official Game Guide) (Paperback)
This guide was extremely helpful in its layout, and is very informative. All the shadow heart games are worth buying IMHO, but this game goes farther then the first 2 in sidequests. Honestly, i like buying the guides, because reading them gives me an insight into what went into making the game. This guide wont disappoint.

For every 2 things it does right, it tags a snafu,
This review is from: Shadow Hearts: From the New World (Prima Official Game Guide) (Paperback)
Shadowhearts:From the New world is an rpg, and like most of its brethren, has its fair share of hidden secrets amidst a plethora of side quests. How well does Prima cover these time-consuming activities? Let's explore the various segments and based our judgment under a microscopic breakdown of this guidebook.
At first glance, it seems to be complete in its coverage. Printed on high quality paper in full color, Prima seemingly spares no efforts in playing tutor for the neophyte player. Full walkthroughs with strategies for boss fights are published liberally here. Side quests for individual characters' special abilities, ultimate weapons, armor and a bestiary database are present for the count of positive aspects. Loose tips and hints promoting efficacy in game play are available. A good example of this is saving money to use on more advanced stellar charts in lieu of blowing it all out on basic models. It even has contents on optional dungeons purgatory and dollhouse. Taking a closer inspection though, we quickly realize the extended manual is fundamentally flawed on a micro scale: a lack of finer details. While the main walkthroughs maps are labeled and pinpoints locations of ring fragments, stellar crests, lottery tickets and members, it fails to exhibit flexibility in presenting knowledge. In other words, were you cruising halfway through ficitious 1929 America and decide this projected beacon of papyrus eye candy is your answer to fully explore the genius work of Nautilus, you might experience the human emotion known collectively as `disappointment'. Backtracking to hunt down individual pieces of your missing collection is bromidic with this cynosure. To illustrate this, say you procured 5/14 ring fragments and need the remaining 9/14, be prepared to initiate a practice in tedium, as you will find yourself flipping through all the maps 1 by 1. The item lists section forces me to dismiss it as filler. What's the point in listing out every item in game -if the locations are not cross-referenced to the awesome maps-? It also falls short of notifying when optional scenarios are FIRST available, and instead lumps an entire side quests section after Garland residence. The final negative I can find fault with lies in is its incomplete attempt to help the player overcome the Lovecraft pit fights - providing tactics on ONLY the last fight, and missing information of foes in every bout, as well as methods to overcome the various handicaps, and zero info pertaining to rewards from each victory scored at Arkham University, Lovecraft's room This ties in to the snapshots chapter. The point of including an album database is redundant, if the guidebook includes the above mentioned pit-fights bestiary. Shadowhearts: Covenant veterans conclude their collection in Soloman's Trials, and this Lovecraft event was exactly designed for photojournalistic Johnny Garlands, yet somehow Adam Pavlacka prefers dungeon crawling to taking advantage of Lovecraft's research. The last word on this guide is it is such a mixed bag, since the main walkthrough is arguably excellent and boasts professional standards. A sad case then, regurgitation of prior praise cannot be qualified for organization of information and catering to the perfectionist, which leads to the conclusion patience is encouraged to be exercised for online Nautilus fans to put out a coherent and comprehensive faq.

The title says it all. I have tried to get this product three times from three sources and each time it ends up back ordered and eventually not available at all. I would love to review it because I have actually read it :(
