Book Description

A secret passed from generation to generation. A line of heirs destined to protect those they once persecuted. One god who seeks to destroy humanity's last Hope...

Zoe is an ordinary woman who talks to her grandmother’s spirit, was raised by her coven, and is estranged from her father. Until one day she finds out that the necklace left to her by her mom, holds humanities last hope.

Evan is her reluctant protector, the last of the Templar Knights, who's watched her from the shadows since she was a teenage girl. When an assailant from the past emerges and steals the key to keeping the rest of the world safe, Evan and Zoe must form a tenuous alliance to get it back.

Up against a mysterious enemy older than time, and a really pissed off God of War, Zoe and Evan have the odds stacked against them as they try to reclaim the Hope of all humanity. That's if they can avoid killing each other.

Shadow of Hope is a fast paced, thrilling paranormal romance novella.

5.0 out of 5 stars Downright Enchanting June 20, 2013

Nerdvana. Where happy readers go to ponder their thoughts and daydream after reading a brilliant book. I'm stuck there at the moment. My heart is a happy one after reading this! My obsessions for the Celtic world, Mythology, Adventure and fantasy has been concocted into one epic story. Some friends on Goodreads and I have a list what we call, The Book Boyfriend list, and a couple of our lead characters have landed their names on this list, let's just say.

Elizabeth and Tina have created a spectacular and original story that begins with a mysterious woman who arouses your curiosity as she speaks to her chosen men in hoods about holding the vessel of
Humanity's hope. Her men are chosen as the perfect guard and to prepare for a time when humanity will be threatened. She knows it's coming, but not so sure when that time will come.

Every character plays such a vital part in this story. I really appreciate that, and there are no loose ends! Each character has a significance to thicken the plot and raise the thrill. You get a slap in the face, jaw dropping moment when a handsome warrior is approached by a mysterious man, and he's utterly pissed off by the one they call "Mother." The woman in the beginning of the story has what he wants. The vessel which was claimed to hold the, "hope of humanity" and will do anything it takes to get his hands on it. He is after all...Aries. The God of War.
The handsome warrior, Lucian, is persuaded into a lifelong servitude to Aries, only to turn on his own men, his brothers.

Man oh man, I sympathized for him the entire time. He dreamt of the "What if's" always stuck in enslavement for a malevolent man, to never be treated with respect, always feeling undeserving.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding!! June 20, 2013

Zoe works for a vet and is the current protector of the "Gateway", although at the time she has no clue. All she knows is that she wears a locket around her neck that has sentimental value to her. After her mother's death, her father sent her to be raised by her mothers siblings (a coven of Wiccans), out in the country in their farm house. After work one night she notices something isn't right and sees she's about to be ambushed by one of Aries' "The God of War" puppets - Lucian. She gets away from him only to be manhandled by another man, Evan, a templar and her protector.

Protectors are sworn to keep the gateway to "humanities last hope" from falling into the wrong hands, and have been doing it for the last few centuries by keeping watch of Zoe's ancestors. Zoe should have learned all about this when she came of age, but her mother was killed before she had a chance to. Luckily for Evan, he is the one to have to tell her. He finds pleasure in telling her that he's been watching her since he was able to pick up a blade, guess you never know when you're being watched or not; this did not sit well with her!! After Zoe and her dad walk into her apartment while it's being broken into, she and the assailant get into a scuffle and he takes her locket.

Now that Lucian and Aries have the locket, they can't seem to get it to function properly... That is without Zoe...

I really liked this story, also enjoyed seeing Zoe learn about her powers and how to use them. After she learns how to master them I'm sure she'd be a pretty bad-ass Wiccan... It had strong character building with a lot of back story.. She and Evan had an extremely heavy case of a Love/Hate relationship that all worked out in the end... The last few chapters of the book ended things really well so it had a nice closure.

***I was gifted a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review***

I have to admit that when you are reading a book that has not been edited properly, it can be mildly annoying, depending on how bad the editing is. In this copy, there was no indication of when someone was talking so the conversations and other verbal communications ran right into the story, which really annoyed me. I kept reading however, trying not to let that annoyance colour my judgement of the book.

When I read the first chapter, I originally thought that I would enjoy this book. Much to my disappointment, I struggled with it. So much so that I had to put it down and leave it for several weeks before I could try again.

The story starts off back in a time of Gods and Goddesses. Gaia entrusts her daughter with a secret and this secret gets passed down from generation to generation. Aries wants that secret, no matter what.
Zoe finds herself in a situation that sees her needing protection. Evan finds himself entrusted with her safety.

"Shadow of Hope is a fast paced, thrilling paranormal romance novella."
I don't think I'd have put this into the Paranormal Romance genre. Yes, the two main characters have fallen in love by the end, but the story is not based around love, in my opinion.

Characters: I really did not feel any infinity with any of the characters. I just didn't feel any empathy, sympathy or otherwise to any of them.

Storyline: The idea is good but I think it could have been developed more. It has all the right ingredients to be a great story but it just felt really rushed.

Very disappointed with this book, it started off fairly well but really didn't enjoy it at all.
2 Stars from me.
