More of the best, July 21, 2006
This review is from: Shadow and Light - Volume 3 (Paperback)
Parris Quinn continues this series with more of his signature work, adult grpahic fiction the way it should be.
All three stories are consensual and mostly-credible, but still kinky enough to be exciting. The pace is a bit faster than in the previous two books, less intellectual and more down'n'dirty. The tone isn't quite as gentle as before, and I found a couple of yuk moments, but only a couple. The stories still alternate between the male and female leads being on top - domination, though moderate, goes in both directions.
The real draw in these stories is in their art. Except for the cover, it's all done in pencil - a medium that I consider neglected far too often. Shading tends toward the flat in places, rather than fully modeled, but that comes across as an enjoyable point of style. The figures are realistically and even affectionately drawn. Added to the realistic tone of the stories, the art puts Quinn's work two giant steps ahead of the general pack of adult comics. The stories are lush and literate in both dimensions, the narrative and the visual. This series has my highest recommendation to anyone who's an adult and wants to be entertained as such.

I simply love all of the volumes in this series. Obviously, you need to be this kind of kink, but if you are I can only say that I found the stories and the imagery erotic. I have purchased a wide variety of literature on my kind of sexuality, and these books are some of the few I have kept.
