Book Description

To us, first responders are heroes. But for them, risking their lives is a normal, everyday thing.

Mudflap:
Born the baby of the family, Mudflap has always had something to prove to emerge out of the shadows of his older siblings. He spent eight years as a Special Ops elite sniper and is now a firefighter. But at his heart, he’s just a normal West Texas good old boy who loves his beer, women and football, until the Department of Defense calls him up to say they need his skills again.

Shanae:
Shanae is a first responder of a different sort. She’s a trauma nurse who works on a medical evacuation helicopter team. But while she lives a life full of adrenaline every day, it’s just a cover for her real life, where she hides in the shadows and is secret agent, Shadowfox for the Lubbock Foxtrot Team (LiFT). She’s living the kind of life that most people think exists only in movies and books.

Working for two different branches of the government, Mudflap and Shanae are in a race against time and the terrorists who threaten the very heart of West Texas life, football. They’re working toward the same goal, but find themselves in a confrontation against each other and the lies they’ve each had to hide behind. Can love win out in the end or will the cost be each other and their very lives?

First responders are heroes every day, but this story tells the tale of when they become even more and find love along the way. The key is for them to stay alive so that they can complete their mission and just maybe live happily ever after.

On an ordinary day, they save lives. On an extraordinary day, they save the country.

(All the proceeds from this novel will go to the Lubbock Red Cross.)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Shadow of Mudflap August 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The number one reason this book is awesome to me is the very last line in the synopsis. I love it someone does something for a good cause and that is exactly what Christi Snow and M.F. Smith have done here.

Anyone who loves college football season will love the Shadow of Mudflap. Shanae and Mudflap are investigating a string of arsons that are connected and pointing to the college team that happens to be having a shockingly good season. To keep readers on their toes and the characters frustrated one too many government agencies has been added to the locale and not informed the others. Shanae is trying to keep work and personal life separate. Mudflap keeps entering Shanae's work life while she is trying to keep him in the personal life. Then there are the odd occurrences that keep everyone wondering what is really going on.

This first book in the Foxtrot Team series has a fun mix of pride for your favorite team, a little suspense, a dash of romance, and a huge amount of good deed. Go buy you copy! Now. All the proceeds from this novel will go to the Lubbock Red Cross.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting, funny, and sexy! September 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I had an absolute blast reading this book, and for several reasons. I'm thrilled to be involved in helping to spread the word about this book: all proceeds and from sale of this book go to the Lubbock Red Cross. AND, the book is just plain fun to read! The story is sexy and exciting, just like it's lovable hero and heroine. Mystery, humor, and great big dash of Texas charm round out this entertaining read.

There's multiple layers to this fast-paced and action packed story. There's romance, intrigue, and a football championship that hangs in the balance. I'm a football fan, so this added a fun angle to the story, but if you're not, don't be put off, it doesn't overwhelm the plot. The plot has tons of twists and turns; I was constantly surprised and kept guessing by this engaging story filled with secret military ops and potential terrorist plots.

I was totally taken in by Mudflap and Shanae's romance. They are both fantastic characters: funny and bad-ass, both are hard-working first responders, and he's a military sniper and she's a secret agent! Together, their chemistry sizzles. Their relationship is hot, fun, flirty, and potentially dangerous for them both. But, this meant to be couple just can't stay away from each other, and I didn't want them to.

I highly recommend this fantastic read that has excitement and intrigue, romance and heat. It's a must read for fans of contemporary romance with elements of suspense, strong heroines, and sweet, sexy, charming alpha-male heroes.

"Brushing a tight kiss across the top of her head, he whispered, `Trust me.'

Butterflies danced down her spine at the whisper of his breath on her forehead. Just that slight glance of his lips and she was ready to melt in a puddle at his feet.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Reading the Paranormal Review August 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I have one thing to say about this book. No, wait. I have more than one thing. I have several things. One of them will likely revolve around Mudflap's unfortunate name. Poor guy. Another MIGHT revolve around how I fear ever traveling through Texas because (if I'm reading these Christi Snow books right) there's a terrorist lurking around every corner. On the other hand, Texas also seems to sport some mighty hunky looking men. And the ladies who can bring them to their knees.

I appreciate that.

So. Mudflap. Yes, that's his name. All things considered, he's surprisingly easy-going about being named after a part on a truck. He also has an immediate attraction to the lovely Shanae. Which, considering she has the same attraction, turns out to work well for the both of them. Things get tangled between Shanae's job as a super sexy spy and Mudflap's involvement in her current case. Wires get crossed, football players get flogged, COVERS NEARLY GET BLOWN! For the record, not all those things happen at once. Just so we're clear.

Meanwhile, at the Legion of Doom headquarters... just kidding. I'm not going to spill the beans on what happens. Just imagine secret codes, diabolical plots, and one character who I'm not sure should be trusted. Oh, and throw in some unexpected sexy times. Because those happen.

There are some nice threads laid out for future books (YAY!), unexpected revelations to fuel the future, and a satisfactory ending to the issue that Shanae and Mudflap are dealing with here. All in all, it was a fun, fast, sexy read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Engaging and Fun Read August 27, 2013
Format:Paperback
The Shadow of Mudflap is an enjoyable story involving secret agents, a domestic terrorist organization, motorcycle gangs, and, at the heart of it all, Texas football. If you don't already know this, then let me be clear: Texans take their football seriously! Snow and Smith do not exaggerate the importance of this sport one bit. I wouldn't have believed it until I moved to Texas five years ago. Football is sacred here.

Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down and pretty much finished it in one sitting. The characters are well-developed and have their own personal issues to confront as they covertly work to stop a local terrorist organization, the ALT who seems to have targeted the Texas Tech football team to advance its own agenda.

Mudflap Davidson, and yes that's his real name, is a sexy, gorgeous firefighter who gets pulled into the conflict when the Army asks him to go undercover to watch for suspicious, threatening activities that may harm the Texas Tech football team. Because of Mudflap's role in the community and his skills as a former special ops sniper, he is able to easily slip into an undercover role working for the Department of Defense.

When he begins to pursue the pretty paramedic who helped his injured partner during a fire, he has no idea that she is really Shadowfox, an agent for the Lubbock Foxtrot Team, a top secret branch of Homeland Security hiding under the guises of LiFT EMS, who provide air and ambulance medical services in the area. The Foxtrot Team is also investigating the ALT, but neither agency knows about the other's involvement.

Shanae is drawn to Mudflap's good looks and charming personality. However, she has no interest in more than just having a casual fling.
