Editorial Reviews

The Wounded Kings merge Britain's occult heritage with the fragile spirit of the human condition and produce a unique blend of spectral doom and psychedelic horror. Musically all the hallmarks from the debut are still evident, the eerie choirs, pianos and the use of space within the riffs, but with The Shadow Over Atlantis they have chosen to create an even darker edge, a desolate end of the world vibe filled with suffocating heaviness, certainly accentuating the doom part in doom metal.YEAR: 2010

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing DOOM concept album, December 18, 2011
By
This review is from: Shadow Over Atlantis (Audio CD)
Forget the DOOM genre, this is just great intelligent music regardless of the genre. This is a well-crafted story about Atlantis with the payoff at the end where the ghosts of Atlantis are summoned forth. The story line plods along and truly fits the music. The listener will feel Atlantis slowly slide into the ocean in the song "Baptism of Atlantis" and you will float on the ocean floor with the doomed city on "Into the Ocean's Abyss". Great concept, great musical atmosphere, great DOOM! There is a moral to this musical story that the artist explains in interviews. Enjoy!
