Being a person with a great imagination, it's always awesome to find a book that creates a world so vivid that you're pulled into the characters mind, see what they see and experience what they experience and become a part of the environment. Shadow Precinct does just that, it has ridiculously awesome imagery, an intricate and intriguing story line and characters that I got attached to. You won't be able to put the book down! I'm already ready for the next one!!!!

I definitely enjoyed reading this book...Christian Porter does a great job of setting up an alternative history, and pretty seamlessly weaves martial arts into that world. There's a great noir fiction feeling to the novel, but there's not too much grittiness. I can't wait to see what's next!

As someone who has written enough reviews to warrant crickets and tumbleweeds, the fact that I'm writing this speaks volumes. In short: BUY THIS BOOK!! Any skeptic wouldn't believe how martial arts, hip hop, and an actual story could weave into a perfect cocoon of total badassdom, but this novel delivers. Being that the writer is from the good ol' New Orleans, his writing simmered like a good roux, adding layer after layer after layer of intrigue. I couldn't put it down. I won't spoil it for you but I will say, if you stick with it, follow the story lines, it ends up being an immaculate read. With sprinkles of classic hip hop lyrics that fit perfectly with the story... it's pretty great. I could easily see this as a film. I'm glad it's part of a trilogy. And I can't wait for part 2! At this point, I'm wondering what can top this. A solid, commendable debut for a writer. Kudos!!
