5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
There was a few issues about the book that was left unresolved. The characters were great and the development of the romance is wonderful. I wished the she elaborated more on the ending though. It felt rushed

3.0 out of 5 stars ,
I couldn't help but like the gothic cliches reworked but every few pages I was saying "Really, book? I've got to call you out on your bull."

The biggest problem was the sight issue...The leading lady cannot see someone standing right next to her night after night because it is too dark, but she can jog in a wooded area the same nights in the same area and never...

5.0 out of 5 stars POIGNANT LOVE STORY, April 19, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Shadow Prince (Harper Monogram) (Paperback)
I have read most of her other books and this has to be my favorite. It is the sweetest, most poignant love story. I also was delighted with his communicating with her through the names of roses. I thought her hero in Moon Lord was wonderful but....You have to read this book!!! As a diehard historical romance reader this one is the only contemporary I feel is a must read and a positive KEEPER. Also loved the cover as it reflects the characters and story so well....beautiful.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Beauty & The Beast Story, June 17, 2003
This review is from: Shadow Prince (Harper Monogram) (Paperback)
Ariel is a plastic surgeon who must take a one-year position at Fountainhead Foundation, an elite, resort-like hospital with strange elements: dusk curfew for staff (who must live on-site) and patients; a founder no one ever sees; and the roses that appear once a day with no notes in her locked office. Ariel sneaks out to take walks in the evening and encounter an enigmatic man who only give the name Jonah and never allows her to see his face.

This was a great story--sort of a Beauty and the Beast kind of thing--with great characters and great writing. The elements of mystery were good and the end truly caught me by surprise. The only problem I had with the book was that we didn't learn enough about Jonah at the beginning--we were told rather than shown what a special man he was.

Shadow Prince sounded great in theory, but man, what a mess this book was. It tells the story of Ariel and Jonah. Ariel has been coerced by her father into signing a one year contract at a treatment facility for people who need plastic surgery...not for cosmetic reasons, but because they have been badly scarred by an accident or were born with some sort of defect. During this time, Ariel begins to take nightly walks and befriends a man named Jonah. Jonah is a complete mystery to Ariel. He stays in the shadows and wont allow for her to see his face...Jonah is badly scarred. He also refuses to tell her anything about himself...Well, let me tell you, Jonah was a complete mystery to me as well. What was an even bigger mystery to me was what the heck these two people saw in eachother that made them fall in love. Ariel was a stuck up whiny brat and Jonah was...well, Jonah was just Jonah. The writing style in Shadow Prince was very amateurish and the dialogue felt forced. All in all, this was a struggle to finish. I would not recommend it.
