More About the Author

DANA MARTON writes fast-paced action-adventure romances that take her readers all over the globe. She is a RITA AWARD finalist and the winner of the Daphne du Maurier Award of Excellence. She loves writing stories of intrigue, filled with dangerous plots that try her tough-as-nails heroes and the special women they fall in love with. Her books have been published in seven languages in eleven countries around the world.

--Okay, the above version is the glamour version for press releases. The truth is that my path to publication was nothing but unglamorous. I wrote for 13 years and completed 4 books (as well as having others in various stages of completion) before I finally received a call from a Harlequin editor. I was beginning to wonder if I was being tenacious or just too dense to know when to quit.

But it all worked out at the end! I love, love, love writing and would spend all day in front of the computer if I could just break my family of the habit of wanting to eat and wear clean clothes. What's up with that? But I must get up from the desk now and then, if only because my Internet connection goes down or my ancient PC overheats. Then I do enjoy cooking, knitting, hunting for treasures at the flea market, our Beagle, Peanut the Destroyer, and gardening.

I'd love it if you picked up one of my books and emailed me to tell me what you thought of it. I've been known to name characters after readers. Just ask Princess Judi.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thrilling Debut, October 13, 2004
This review is from: Shadow Soldier (Harlequin Intrigue) (Mass Market Paperback)
What a ride! Ms. Marton explodes onto the romance scene with a strong, sexy, masculine hero. Alex Rodriguez is an operative in the top-secret SDDU, a counterterrorism squad jam-packed with men to drool over. He's been assigned to protect Nicola Barrington, the feisty daughter of a US Senator, whether she likes it or not. And she doesn't. She's spent years trying to get away from the suffocation of unwanted protection, but when an attempt on her life comes uncomfortably close to success, she has no choice but to allow Alex into her life.

I don't know how Marton does it, but somehow, she manages to keep up a gripping, rollicking pace with the adventure story, while still somehow building a luscious romance between her two protagonists. Excellent. My favorite new author.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is Ms. Marton's debut, and what a debut! Awesome!, January 25, 2008

Shadow Soldier by Dana Marton
Harlequin Intrigue # 806 - October 2004 - SDDU series Book #1

Alex is an agent for the covert Special Designation Defense Unit; an elite group compiled of agents from all the US agencies; CIA, FBI, SEALs, Special Forces; the best of the best. The SDDU is Homeland Security's special weapon against terrorism. While recovering from his last mission, he's been assigned the duty of surveillance bodyguard. Nicola is the daughter of a US Senator, former US Ambassador to China. She's struggling to get her import trade business off the ground. Unknown to her, she's being targeted by her father's enemies. Luckily, for Nicola, Alex is there to foil a kidnapping attempt, which sends them both on the run.

This is Ms. Marton's debut, and what a debut! Awesome! What a hero! Alex is the perfect soldier; a loner with no family to tie him down. He's out of his element when Nicola works her way under his skin. In the summer heat, Nicola's too big Kevlar vest extends to the top of her thighs, making it look like she has nothing underneath. This drives poor Alex nuts! LOL I like Nicola. She handles the intense situations without panic. She's intelligent and brave, a perfect partner for Alex. Bravo to Ms. Marton on her first Intrigue!

Shadow Soldier / Secret Soldier
The Sheik's Safety / Camouflage Heart
Rogue Soldier / Protective Measures
These are all incredible reads! If you like action, adventure and romance, these will not disappoint you. I love that Ms. Marton writes her heroines to be equally as brave and strong as her heroes.

5.0 out of 5 stars #1 OF A GREAT SERIES - LOOK FOR "SDDU" OPERATIVES, August 18, 2006

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Shadow Soldier (Harlequin Intrigue) (Mass Market Paperback)
Needing down-time to recuperate, Alex Rodriguez is stuck with covert surveilance of Nicola Barrington.

Of course, it doesn't hurt [not much] that she does not draw her curtains when she baths etc.
But Alex is ticked with Colonel Wilson for the assignment as he wants to get back into action.

After 2 months of no action Alex almost misses the cue when bullets start spraying around Nicola. Now What?

With fast action on the run the plot gets thicker. Who was after the senator's daughter? This Shadow Soldier was going to protect her at all costs. He had to contact someone he could trust. That was "Spike" Logan, another "SDDU" operative.

Nicola was not happy to be surrounded with "bodyguards" again. She had had enough of that when her father had been ambassador to China. Now where was the threat coming from?

Well, she wanted Alex gone. He was a threat to her emotions.
Then "Spike" almost bought it and she lost the Tweedles as she was kidnapped.

What a great set of stories - fast action - highly charged hormones - and oh yes, "Spike"'s story follows in SECRET SOLDIER.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --M what great characters.
