What I like most about Brad Steiger's "Shadow World" is how he shows us that a spirit isn't just some disembodied, confused ghost from the Beyond, back from the dead to haunt a house, a family, a tree, or even, a car. Spirits, if you believe in them, seem to come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and purposes. I like Steiger's designation of their realm as a "shadow world," neither a positive nor negative connotation, but a more neutral, easy term to consider. It's not hard to believe many of the stories that the author shares with us. I've always thought that credible eyewitnesses are very important, whether you're talking about ghosts, UFOs, Bigfoot, or psychic phenomena, in general. If eyewitness testimony is given serious consideration in courts of law, why not here? Sure, it's crucial to keep a skeptical, open eye with regard to these subjects, but there has to be a point where the incredibly large numbers of reports must be seriously weighed. Throughout all of history, with literally thousands of eyewitness reports of ghostly phenomena, is it possible that every single account has either been made up, misperceived, or outright hoaxed? Brad Steiger makes me believe something real is going on and experienced by sincere people from all walks of life. He skillfully presents many fascinating tales of humans interacting with denizens of the "shadow world." If only one encounter is real -- just one ghost, one poltergeist, one animal spirit -- of the thousands ever reported through the ages, then shouldn't mainstream Science direct more time and energy to the research of it? It seems to me that, by paying more attention to the research and writings of someone like Brad Steiger in his eye-opening "Shadow World," we inch our way ever closer to the answer of the ultimate question that every single human being has ever wondered about -- whether there actually is a spiritual survival of physical death.

Brad Steiger's Shadow World is a book which could only have been written by the Master of The Paranormal. Shadow world is a MUST read for the majority that believe in Spirit communication and should be read by anyone that still doubts a continium of life after death. The later may have some of their ideas changed and a new world opened. Shadow World has a message of hope that life and other diminsions do exist. Mr. Steiger doesn't give the easy "pop" answers. In fact most of the stories are presented as they occurred defying any conventional explainations.This book can change your life.

While most of us will never have occasion to meet Mr. Bigfoot, or UFO's, we all must eventually face death. Indeed, the afterlife, is the true Final Frontier. I have been studying the paranormal and religion/spirituality all of my life. I have read over five hundred books on the subject. Shadow World is in my top ten; I recommend it to anyone interested in the subject.

Normally, I don't read a book from cover to cover in one sitting. I like to savor a good book, stop and think about it, then go back to it. I couldn't help myself with Shadow World, it enthralled and I could not put it down.

Any of Steigers books are a sure thing. He writes from the heart, and with passion. If you are new to the field of parapsychology, or if you are an expert, this book is sure to give you a new look on what lies beyond this world of ours.

This book can send chills up your spine at times, and touch your soul at others. I highly recommend it.

Mr. Steiger has been investigating paranormal claims for longer than even he probably wants to think about, and has written over thirty books on the paranormal world that exists, just a fraction behind, in front, or slightly parallel of the one we currently inhabit. In "SHADOW WORLD" He shows that everyday normal people encounter strange phenomena all the time, even those you know would not be subjected to "flights of fancy" as some of the skeptics call it.

He provides case histories, documentation, and eye witness accounts of events from all over the world that provides proof, over and over again, that there is indeed a "Shadow World" that exists, even as our own. And that sometimes crosses paths with the illusion we know by the name of reality. He also provides strong arguments as to why events like this take place. For instance, a large percentage of poltergeist activity takes place around adolescents, around the time the pineal gland is in full throttle mode, and that it also occurs around people in different stages of stress.

I have to tell you, "Shadow World" had my skin crawling, from cover to cover. It also gives you that ghost story around the campfire feeling! It's another really good sign when I sit down and read a book cover to cover in one sitting. I just couldn't put this book down.

Rock on, Mr. Steiger! The best of your best to date! This one has all the earmarks of a true classic in the genre of the unexplained.

Truly, Shadow World makes the common person (whose stuck in thought of just the material world) wonder of the possibilities of other realms of existance. Brad has put forth convincing first-hand accounts of interaction with various entities that it can't simply be discarded as a mass hallucination. A great read! I'm re-reading it again and again. I found this book to be one of the most complete and well organized on the subject of spirit phenomena that I have ever read. In fact, this is the third time that I've found myself rereading it. You could do far worse than to make this your primary reference work on the subject.

The author divides spirit manifestations into the following categories: 1) Spirits of the dead (traditional visitations and hauntings- often involving family members), 2) Poltergeists (violent hauntings that are energized by the psyche of a living human), 3) Phantoms (long term apparitions that become psychic marionettes), 4) Animal spirits, 5) Nature spirits (never human entities- devas, fairies, elves), 6) Deiform spirits (archetypical, god-like beings), 7) Spirit residue (psychic energy or impressions impressed into the natural environment, 8) Spirit parasites (hostile entities, capable of possession, traditional demons, and 9) Spirit mimics (in-between beings of the spiritual no-man's land, tricksters and liars.) Most of these categories are addressed in their own descriptive chapter. Multiple case studies (personally verified by the author) illustrate each phenomenon.

The last chapter is especially useful since it deals with how to personally interact with spirits. The principles are useful and practical: 1) don't ignore your psychic encounters (pay attention- there is usually a reason for such contact), 2) don't take all spirit or psychic messages literally (there are levels of symbolism involved), 3) combine psychic impressions with common sense (some spirits are simply inept, and some are active liars, frauds, and tricksters), 4) and learn to develop your paranormal abilities (the more you practice the better it works.) There are also warnings, tips, and techniques on how to recognize and resist negative entities.

It once depressed me that so many people seemed to regard the existence of the "shadow world" next to our own as fantasy, superstition, or mental instability. Mr. Steiger's research over the past half century has been instrumental in changing that. In fact, this book cites polls that show that a majority of people accept the survival of the spirit after death- and existence of spirit contact across the veil. The author's daughter is quoted as saying that this is the real importance of such phenomena- they provide personal and reassuring proof of survival after physical death. Some would call that wishful thinking, but I think that it is more in-line with rediscovering eternal Truth.

A fun, interesting book. If you love stories about ghosts, spirits, and the unknown, you will enjoy this book. I would buy it again.
