I have grown to love Fernando's work. As I get older, I enjoy his music--it really draws me into God's presence, especially as I'm reading the Word or praying. Not all Christian music does that for me, but Fernando's does.

This album is wonderful, its pensive, thoughtful. I really sense that Fernando means what he says, that he's deeply into the music and not just creating another CD.

I really recommend this CD, it really helps draw you into the heart of God.

Still yourself... and listen to this fine work by Fernando Ortega. As you listen and think of excellent and noble things you will experience Grace and Peace in your world-weary soul. In fact if you see Fernando's name on it - - buy it. Like all of Fernando Ortega's music, The Shadow of Your Wings: Hymns and Sacred Songs does not disappoint!

I have enjoyed Fernado Ortega's music for a long time - his "Hymns and Meditations" album is one of my all time favories. I have most of his albums, and listen to them often. It is nice to have a sound of gentle peace to refresh the spirit and remind us of the still, quiet voice of God. This album shows Fernando at his best - playing and singing sacred music - no fluff or driving instrumentals - just nice, gentle, uplifting music. This is another Fernando cd that I will play until I burn holes in it.

I first heard Fernando Ortega on the radio in 1996 and bought his album, Hymns and Meditations. Now, 10 years later I have bought this latest CD (Shadow of Your Wings) that compares to, but far exceeds the earlier Hymns. He says that he created this CD out of his quiet times with the Lord and it will now be a staple for myself and many others as they seek God in this busy world. This is a CD that you must experience to fully appreciate and I am sure that it will grow on me each time I hear it. 5 Stars Plus!!!

In an increasingly commercialized and superficial world, Fernando is refreshingly free of pop/secularized "Christian" fluff. The songs are simple, elegant, and scripture based/focused, which draws one into true worship. There are a few re-makes of songs from older albums, such as "Sing to Jesus" (and I tend to enjoy the originals more than the re-makes), but there is alot to enjoy on this CD. "Oh God, You Are My God" is a personal favorite. I love this guy, and how he worships the Lord.

This album was my first introduction to Fernando Ortega, and I'm absolutely hooked now. This has to be one of the most peaceful and relaxing collections I have ever heard. The melodies are beautiful and the words are so simple and pure (most are direct quotes from scripture). I even use it in my 3 year-old son's bedroom for lullabies. These songs make you think and reflect on God and His Son. I particularly like how Fernando blends scriptures from the Old and New Testaments into one song (Let the Words of My Mouth). I am an oncology nurse, and at the end of a stressful work day, I can listen to this in my car, and I am instantly refocused & refreshed. I wholeheartedly recommend this album - you won't regret it!

ingredients: a few select instruments/voices (piano, acoustic guitar, string quartet, bass, sparce percussion), powerfully simple and honest song writing, a truly humbling approach to an immeasurable God.
results are: intimate worship song/hymns/spiritual songs. a timeless piece!

Grace and peace to you from God our Father. A loving reminder of God's compassion. Most of the songs are reflective and meditative, a few are not and disrupt the flow . . . but otherwise a great album. So 4 instead of 5 stars. Still very much worth it if you're a Fernando Ortega fan (or even if you're not). If you like loud Contemporary Christian rock music, don't get this, you'll be disappointed. If you like intelligent lyrics, music that draws you to God, and sets a peaceful mood, you'll be pleased.

Listening to this album early in the morning helps my entire family have a worshipful attitude throughout the day. We love the mixture of scripture songs and classic hymns. God's Word is powerful, especially when put to music!

I'm a new fan of this singer and heard selections from this CD before purchasing it. I have not been disappointed. For a break from daily life this cd brings you anhour of soft spoken, scripturally based, inspiring music. Wonderful to be at peace with! I love it.
